The debut of Spy x Family anime has blessed the audience with some fresh content after a very long time. The series is rising in the popularity charts and is currently the most in-demand anime television series. In just a couple of weeks, the series has become the 2nd highest-rated anime on MyAnimeList and fans are already looking for anime like Spy x Family.
Spy x Family is an anime television series produced in collaboration with Studio WIT and CloverWorks. The anime series is based on the original manga of the same name written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo. As of now, the anime series is running weekly with a new episode each week and the first season is listed for 25 episodes in total.

March Comes In Like A Lion
The story focuses on the life of Rei Kiriyama who lost his parents & younger sister in an accident. Later on, he started living with the family of Masachika Kōda who was a friend of his father. But as soon as he reached adulthood, Rei left his foster family assuming that he was only causing trouble to them.
Now, Rei is back to living alone however, he makes some new friends. Among his acquaintances are three sisters of the Kawamoto family – Akari, Hinata, and Momo. As the story progresses, Rei deals with his maturation both as a professional shogi player and as a person, all the while strengthening his relationships with others, particularly the Kawamoto sisters.
How To Keep A Mummy
High school student Sora Kashiwagi is accustomed to receiving bizarre & weird presents from his father, who is on an expedition around the world. But, for Sora, these gifts have served only as nightmares. As a result, when his father sends him a huge package from Egypt, Sora prepares himself for the worst. But, surprisingly he’s greeted by a cute, pint-sized mummy named Mii-kun.
While initially cautious, Sora soon learns that Mii-kun is a harmless, delicate creature yearning for attention. After getting to know each other, the unlikely pair meet new people with unique pets, while also strengthening their bond together. Although keeping a pet is a difficult task, Sora is ready to take care of the lovable Mii-kun.
School Babysitters
After the sudden death of their parents, two young brothers named Ryuichi Kashima and his younger brother Kotaro are left orphaned having no place to call home. With no place to go, the chairwoman of the prestigious Morinomiya Academy offers to take the boys into her care. She provides them with a new house and enrolls them into her school without any tuition fee.
But, there is a condition for all such luxuries. The chairwoman asks Ryuichi to help out with the school’s daycare center and work as a babysitter while also attending normal classes during school hours. Now, Ryuichi has to manage his studies and babysit the kids along with his brother Kotaro which makes this series pretty fun & exciting to watch and it’s one of the best anime like Spy x Family.
Non Non Biyori
Hotaru Ichijou’s lifestyle completely changes when she leaves Tokyo and moves with her family to an isolated village named Asahigaoka. On her first day at school she comes to know that her new school has only five students including herself, there are no convenience stores in the area, and it can take up to two hours for a bus to arrive.
Still, Hotaru finds herself captivated by the countryside’s charm thanks to her four unique schoolmates with whom she quickly forms a genuine bond. Hotaru’s firsthand knowledge of the alluring outside world and her fresh outlook on life welcomes a blossom of change to the group’s usual routine and they began to explore the world of countless possibilities.
Barakamon
Barakamon is a slice of life & wholesome anime like Spy x Family which follows the journey of Seishu Handa, a young professional calligrapher. Despite his young age, he acquires great talent and execution in this field or area however, when the elderly curator of an exhibition criticizes his calligraphy for being too unoriginal, Seishu gets angry and punches him.
Because of this behaviour, as a punishment, his father sends him off to Goto Island. Far from the comfortable Tokyo lifestyle, the life of Seishu turns upside-down when he meets the colorful villagers and begins to interact with them. In a rural setting, crowded with lots of disturbing people, Seishu attempts to find new inspiration and develop his own unique art style.
Natsume’s Book Of Friends
Natsume’s Book of Friends is a critically acclaimed manga written by Yuki Midorikawa. The series revolves around the themes like supernatural and slice-of-life that follow the main protagonist Natsume and his infamous protector Madara who sets on a journey to free the spirits bound by his grandmother’s contract.
From a very young age, Natsume Takashi was able to see the spirits, but he never told anyone about it. However, after his grandmother Reiko’s death he inherits a strange book where he discovers the reason behind the spirits surrounding him. After knowing the truth, Natsume pledges to free the spirits and dissolve the contracts with the help of a spirit cat named Madara. But, that isn’t going to be easy for both of them.
Poco’s Udon world
The series revolves around the complicated but normal life of Souta Tawara, a young web designer from Tokyo who decides to return to his hometown in Kagawa following the death of his father and to take a break from the city. Upon his return, he sadly learns that the family restaurant had gone out of business during his absence.
While remembering his childhood, Souta walks inside the closed down restaurant and discovers a blonde-haired little boy sleeping inside a cooking pot. Thinking that the boy has been living a lonely life, he decides to adopt him and name him Poco and from here on, the series follows the heartwarming relationship between Souta and Poco.
My Senpai Is Annoying
My Senpai Is Annoying is a right fit for anime like Spy x Family as it premiered last year and the animation style is also fresh just like the latter one. The series follows the life of a saleswoman, Futaba Igarashi who manages to hold her respectable job for almost two years thanks to the guidance of her senior coworker, Harumi Takeda.
However, due to Igarashi’s short stature, Takeda often teased her and treats her like a kid which makes Igarashi constantly annoyed. As Igarashi and Takeda spend more time together, their relationship soon develops further than simply being coworkers at the office and the chemistry between them begin to bloom like a flower.
Kakushigoto
Kakushigoto tells the story of a father and daughter living side by side. The name of the series is taken from the main protagonist, Kakushi Gotou who is a widely popular ecchi manga artist. Because of this, when his daughter Hime is born, he vows to keep his profession hidden from her, believing that she will be discouraged after finding about his dad’s profession.
This paranoia-induced belief leads Kakushi into hectic situations. Despite being a single father, he does his best and often resorts to extreme ends just to protect his secret. However, there are no secrets that time cannot reveal and, to not let that happen, the father attempts to preserve the status quo. The father & daughter bond will make you remember Anya and Loid and you’ll not regret watching this anime like Spy x Family.
Sweetness And Lightning
Sweetness And Lightning follows the heartwarming story of a caring father trying his hardest to make his adorable little daughter happy. Since the death of his wife, Kouhei Inuzuka take care of his young daughter Tsumugi to the best of his abilities. But, because of his lack of culinary knowledge and his busy job as a teacher, he is left relying on ready-made meals from convenience stores to feed the little girl.
Frustrated at his own incapability to provide a fresh, nutritious meal for his daughter, Kouhei takes up an offer from his student, Kotori Iida, to come have dinner at her family’s restaurant. After much pleading from his pupil, Kouhei decides to continue to go to the restaurant with Tsumugi to cook and share delicious homemade food with Kotori.
