How Do You Kill A God? New Manga Unfolds Thrilling Tale Of Survival
Gods or deities are worshipped in various parts of the world. Deemed as the creator and ruler of the universe, they’re the supreme being. But, what if rather than saving humanity from destruction, they become the symbol of devastation and chaos? Viz Media’s upcoming manga title unfolds this gripping tale of struggle against the divine beings.
Titled “After God”, the storyline introduces us to a Japan that has been plunged into darkness by godlike beings that invaded the country thirty years ago, leaving giant Danger Zones where once were cityscapes. Its once-thriving cities are now reduced to rubble and ash, and people are living under the ominous shadow of powerful gods.
At the heart of this post-apocalyptic nightmare is Anti-God researcher Tokinaga Sachiyuki who stumbles upon young Kamikura Waka while patrolling the dangerous area of Tokyo. What he sees in her eyes might be the much-needed weapon that will break free the people of Japan from the shackles of divine oppression.
With “After God”, Sumi Eno signs an intensely disturbing work, but whose graphic mastery takes you to the frontiers of power and manipulation. The pacing and tone of the manga are close to Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Chainsaw Man” with the artistic flair giving vibes of Sui Ishida’s dark fantasy series, “Tokyo Ghoul”.
The story explores the theme of deicide in the contemporary world with extraordinarily detailed and violent scenes. Each page turns into a battlefield as the protagonists navigate through the remnants of a once-vibrant society, facing the physical and psychological toll of living in a world dominated by gods.
In a world where gods reign, the saga unfolds, beckoning readers to discover the fate of a nation hanging in the balance. “After God” by Sumi Eno has currently more than 50 chapters available to read and is also slated to release on Viz Media in the fall of 2024.
