TorrentFreak Reveals The Most Pirated TV Shows Of 2023
Digital piracy remains a large-scale problem for the anime industry and it has become a major issue for many legal companies. While the authorities are still struggling with it, the newly revealed data sheds light on the most pirated TV shows of 2023, and the list is heavily dominated by some of the popular anime series.
Global data analytics company MUSO has released the list of the top 10 most pirated TV series of 2023, as per TorrentFreak user data. The live-action adaptation of the hit video game series “The Last of Us” topped the list, but the spotlight was on the anime category which took almost all the places in the piracy watchlist.
The Top 10 Most Pirated TV Shows of 2023 were:
#1 The Last of Us
#2 Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2
#3 Vinland Saga Season 2
#4 Eminence in Shadow Season 1
#5 My Hero Academia Season 6
#6 Mushoku Tensei Season 2
#7 Mashle: Magic and Muscles
#8 Eminence in Shadow Season 2
#9 Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
#10 Silo
According to MUSO’s report, 26.5% of all visits to piracy websites are to anime websites and the list validates the point. Not to the surprise of many, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen was the most pirated anime of the year, followed by Vinland Saga Season 2 which happens to be the the world’s most legally streamed anime show of 2023 as well.
A few days back, the United States government listed Aniwatch (the biggest illegal anime streaming platform) as the most dangerous piracy website in the world and this list of global piracy just shows that anime is at the forefront of online piracy and unlicensed media consumption.
While agencies are trying to increase public awareness and help market operators, it’s high time that anime fans across the globe start encouraging official streaming platforms so that more number of people can be brought over to the legal and authentic side of the web.
