Haikyuu movie box office collection

After years of delay, the long-awaited sequel of the most popular sports anime title is finally in the theatres. The first of the two “Haikyu!! FINAL” films is now screening in Japanese cinemas and fans from nationwide are rallying in huge numbers to capture the climatic showdown between the Karusuno High and Nekoma High volleyball teams.

The film opened in Japan on February 16 and on its first day outshined the already blockbuster Demon Slayer Hashira Training movie. Haikyuu movie box office collection tallied US $6 million (around 900 million yen) on debut, making it the fourth highest-grossing opening day film in Japan’s history.

Haikyuu movie has now enlisted itself in the historical records of Japan’s biggest box-office debuts and now sits only behind “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” (1.26 billion yen), “One Piece Film: Red” (1.23 billion yen), and “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” (1 billion yen) in terms of first-day ticket booth revenue.

Despite the ongoing spring break in Japan, a huge number of fans turned in to watch the Haikyuu movie and applauded the film on its merits. The box office critics predict that the film will cross the 10 billion yen mark by the end of its theatrical run and will be a huge hit not only in Japan but globally also.

Haikyuu Movie International Release Date

Titled “Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle”, it is the first of a duology that promises to conclude the anime adaptation. The film is set after the events of the anime television series and covers the events of the highly anticipated match between Karasuno High and Nekoma High at the Tokyo National Tournament.

At the moment there has been no announcement of an international release yet. However, given that Crunchyroll currently streams all four seasons, they’ll most likely bring the Haikyuu movie to other regions later this year. Further information will be shared with fans as soon as there will be an update.
