Jujutsu Kaisen Surpasses YouTube In Brand Rankings
Over the past couple of years, Jujutsu Kaisen has certainly become not just a popular franchise but a global brand as well. A few days back, the series was crowned with the title of ‘most in-demand TV show” and now, it has been named the top entertainment brand, overtaking the social media giant YouTube.
Japan’s popular news magazine, Nikkei Entertainment, recently published the annual “Top 30 Most Popular Brand Rankings” which ranked the popularity of entertainment brands by the number of fans. Surprisingly, the list was dominated by anime shows with “Jujutsu Kaisen” being the ultimate victor.
Studio MAPPA-produced Jujutsu Kaisen overshadowed all the big social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Netflix, Disney, and Amazon Prime Video. The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise gained massive traction following its Season 2 release, which was ironically one of the most pirated TV shows of 2023 as well.
Another worldwide phenomenon, “One Piece” clinched the third spot, followed by “Spy × Family” on the fourth and “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” on the fifth. Out of the thirty entertainment brands, almost one-third of the spots were taken by anime, which shows the global demand for the medium in the entertainment market.
Additionally, the Super Bowl 2024 referenced Jujutsu Kaisen in one of their promotion campaign which stole the spotlight ahead of the kickoff. Needless to say, the franchise has maintained its domestic and global popularity as a brand, and the good days of the series are still ahead with a third anime season in the pipeline.
