Elden Ring Set To Receive Full-Colour Webtoon Adaptation
After shattering several records and winning dozens of “Game of the Year” awards, Elden Ring is ready to set foot in the webtoon industry as KADOKAWA Corporation has announced on Monday that they will adapt the critically acclaimed action role-playing game into a webcomic.
Titled “Elden Ring Become Lord”, the full-color webcomic (vertical-scrolling) adaptation of the game will be drawn by Hand Punch. The grand adventure of the action RPG Elden Ring in comic version will be available on Kadokomi Web and other Japanese e-book stores starting March 29th, 2024.
Hand Punch, the artist behind the webcomic adaptation of Elden Ring, shared his thoughts on the project stating, “We are honored to be entrusted with the comic adaptation of such a prestigious work, but at the same time, we feel significant responsibility and pressure.
“Elden Ring is not just a game; it is art itself. While we have poured passion into the creation process without reservation, we faced numerous challenges along the way. However, just as this game has taught us, we believe that light will always prevail and shine through, no matter how difficult the path”, he added.
The webcomic will follow one of the Tarnished who sets out on a journey to become the next Elden Lord. At the time of writing this article, KADOKAWA has not disclosed any details on the release date of English and other translations of the webcomic, meaning it will initially be available only in Japanese.
Elden Ring is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and Yui Tanimura with worldbuilding provided by fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, the game received critical acclaim for its open world, gameplay systems, and setting.
It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox in February 2022 and so far, the game has sold more than 23 million units in total. A downloadable content expansion of Elden Ring, “Shadow of the Erdtree”, is also scheduled to be launched in June 2024.
