The rivalry between anime fandoms has existed for ages, with endless debates over who belongs in the “Big Three” and which series reigns supreme. Bleach has often been excluded from this discussion, and YouTuber MrBeast’s recent remarks have only added fuel to the fire.
Recently, an X/Twitter user nicknamed MrZed (@spinitbackzed) posted a question asking fans to choose one anime to erase from existence. The options included One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and Bleach.
The tweet quickly gained traction with numerous reactions and retweets. Among the replies, one notable figure stood out—MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, the creator of the most-subscribed YouTube channel. He replied, “It’s obviously Bleach.”
Following MrBeast’s comment, the Bleach fandom erupted on the platform. Fans began quoting his tweet, accusing him of being a “pure hater” and dismissing him as someone who prefers “kids’ stuff” over the peak storytelling of the anime.
Some fans countered his opinion respectfully, while others harshly criticized him for being a biased Naruto fan. As the replies from Bleach enthusiasts poured in, MrBeast doubled down, responding with another tweet: “Naruto is better, get counter ratio’d.”
The fan war between the Bleach fandom and MrBeast continues to rage, and it seems the YouTuber has landed on the wrong side of some fans. It’s clear that the debate over the “Big Three” will never truly be resolved. Perhaps as anime fans, we should simply appreciate each series for its unique qualities and contributions to the medium.
