Top 10 Most Dangerous Serial Killers In Anime
The character dynamics of a serial killer in an anime series often seems to be a horrifying aspect to deal with yet the audience finds it captivating at the same time. The serial killers in anime are as varied and diverse as ones in real life, including the mentally sick psychopaths who kill without remorse.
Every single one of these characters is driven by a sense of fun and adventure in their life which ultimately leads them to the path of murders and killings. And, in today’s article, we’ll take a look at some of the most dangerous serial killers in anime. So, without any further ado let’s get started.
10. Vicious – Cowboy Bebop
Vicious is a ruthless and bloodthirsty assassin who lives up to his name. He is described as a merciless and cunning mercenary consumed by his own vengeance. Wielding a sword, he thoroughly enjoys killing and nonchalantly sacrifices the lives of others to achieve his own goals.
Ironically, Vicious is rather an ambitious person but in a negative way as he doesn’t hold back from committing considerable atrocities in order to get what he wants. At the end of the day, he is a man with no glimmer of happiness inside of him who allowed his seething hatred and ambitions to consume him.
9. Shogo Makishima – Psycho-Pass
Shogo Makishima is a very passionate guy who genuinely cares about the world he lives in. His stated goal is to liberate Japanese society from the Sibyl System, as he believes that it is turning its citizens into non-thinking automatons. There’s just one tiny problem, he’s criminally asymptomatic!
He turns into a total maniac and a ruthless person in an attempt to fulfill his desires. His heartless actions include slitting a woman’s throat in front of her best friend, inciting riots, and attempting to cut off his nation’s food supply. Shogo’s intention may look noble but he’s the epitome of serial killers in anime.
8. Ryuunosuke Uryuu – Fate/Zero
People are obsessed with cars, watches, antiques, food, etc., however, in the case of Ryuunosuke he’s infatuated with the process of death and dying. In fact, he became a murderer in the first place to discover more entertaining ways to kill people and observe their death.
Killing is like reading a book for Ryuunosuke as he sees it as a way of learning about the existence of people outside himself. He finds joy in murdering young women and children, mainly because of their innocence and lack of self-defense which makes his crimes all the more cruel and exciting through his eyes.
7. Stain – My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia has its fair share of nurturing some of the most violent serial killers in anime. Stain is one of them known for his notorious crimes involving the killings of Pro Heroes. A hero-turned-villain Stain is a cruel, unforgiving, and merciless man with a sense of duty to cleanse society of false heroes.
Going against the corrupt and mendacious hero society, he took it upon himself to become the “Hero Killer: Stain” to stain his own hands with blood to purge fake heroes and eradicate the menace from society, eventually making it a better place to live.
6. Shion Sonozaki – Higurashi
Upbringing does affect the fate of a person and this stands true for Shion Sonozaki. Shion used to be a sweet girl but before long, she goes on a killing spree that includes taser torture, murder, and crucifixion – all thanks to her love interest Satoshi’s disappearance.
Out of vengeance and rage, she started killing people she thought were involved in his death. However, unlike all the serial killers on this list, Shion is shown to regret what she does and begs for forgiveness right before she meets her end.
5. Barry The Chopper – Fullmetal Alchemist
In the 2009 anime version, Barry the Chopper has been portrayed as a comedic villain but initially, he isn’t nearly as humorous and friendly. Barry the Chopper is a true sociopath who gets his jollies from killing young women and turning them into twisted forms of art.
In his past life, Barry actually happened to be a serial killer who earned his name because he enjoyed chopping up his victims into tiny pieces. He was a genuinely sadistic guy who took pleasure in killing people and got excited at the mere sight of blood.
4. Yuno Gasai – Fairy Tail
Yuno Gasai is a psychopath yandere who takes killing as a form of expressing her love towards her crush, Yukiteru Amano. On the surface, she pretends to be a perfect model student, but her looks don’t justify her brutal acts of slaughtering people occasionally.
Yuno’s obsession brings the worst out of her as she kills unhesitatingly to protect him. She has little, if any, problem with using and taking advantage of others for her and Yukiteru’s survival. She will resort to cruel and usually violent methods, most of the time coming out of nowhere, that generally end in bloody deaths.
3. Yoshikage Kira – JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Yoshikage Kira is a man with a fetish for the female hand which makes him one of the “weird” yet dangerous serial killers in anime. Any woman unfortunate enough to fall victim to him will lose their hands in death, which are collected as “girlfriends”.
Unlike other villains, Kira’s only desire in life is to kill without any signs of mercy. He places zero value on lives that are not his own. There are no limits to what he will do to protect his identity so no one will ever stop his murder spree.
2. Johan Liebert – Monster
Johan Liebert is arguably the best villain in anime history who appears to be a calm and polite individual but beneath his pleasant exterior lies the heart of someone who is decidedly evil. He kills for the sake of killing without any motives, hatred, anger, or anything in between.
Almost every one of his actions stems from the desire to experiment and test people for his own pleasure. He’s a highly manipulative killer who’s able to influence others to an almost unimaginable level turning them into killers as well. Johan’s past is full of events that certify him as a methodic and sadistic killer.
1. Light Yagami – Death Note
Light Yagami would have been a typical high school student if he hadn’t gotten his hands on a Death Note. A simple-looking notebook changed his life drastically as it granted death to anyone whose name is written on it. His sense of justice and motives were clear from the very start until he began to do inarguably unjust things.
He started off by punishing the evildoers of society and granted them a cruel death. He killed without remorse and mercy eventually turning into a cold-hearted anime character himself. Despite seemingly good intentions, he ended up killing hundreds of innocent people including his own father and that’s just simply unethical!
