A Girl Goes Viral After Posting Her ‘Anime Cosplaying’ Graduation Photos

Published by Gintoki on

In Japan, when a high school student finishes school there is the ritual of holding a graduation ceremony. All the school staff & students together celebrate this beautiful day but, there always are a bunch of students who do unusual things to make the graduation ceremony a memorable day for all.

A similar thing came into notice a few days back when a student studying in Sapporo Minami High School posted a photo of herself on Twitter showing that she went to her graduation ceremony while cosplaying Emilia from the popular isekai anime series Re:Zero. Check out the tweet below.

Hours later after she posted it, the tweet went viral over the internet and her post received over 47,000 likes, over 5,000 retweets, and lots of comments from the anime fans who were excited about the fact that Japanese schools allow students to go to graduation ceremonies in a cosplay dress.

Many people congratulated her on graduation and many were impressed that she didn’t wear a school uniform to celebrate this day. Although, a lot of people were worried if she wasn’t feeling cold with that outfit as currently, the winter season is at its peak in Japan. In another tweet, she mentioned:

It seems that many people have seen this tweet, so I would like to mention that Sapporo Minami High School participates in the graduation ceremony in free clothes (including dresses, hakama, and suits).

It is a plainclothes school with a tradition of doing things. Also, it was cold except when I was shooting, so I don’t mind the cold. Thank you for worrying about me.

However, she was not the only one doing cosplay of an anime character while being graduated as well. One of her friends was also in a cosplay dress and she looked pretty cool in it just like her friend who cosplayed Emilia.
