Attack On Titan Named Most In-Demand TV Series In The World In 2021

The Japanese anime industry is booming around the world at a very rapid speed. The international fans are getting accustomed to it and they’re loving the anime shows made in Japan. And, very pleasing news for the anime fans came today as popularly known series, Attack On Titan named the most in-demand TV show in 2021.

Parrot Analytics, the global audience demand analytics firm, today announced the winners for the 4th annual Global TV Demand Awards. The list was dominated by the anime and Asian series released over the past year. Korean series, Squid Game was the biggest grabber meanwhile, Attack On Titan was the World’s Choice TV show in 2021.

The winners for each category was decided based on Parrot Analytics global TV demand data for the period of one year from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021. The results are a clear sign of the seismic shift in global audience preferences for more international and non-English language content.

Attack on Titan became the first-ever non-English language series to earn the prestigious title of World’s Most In-Demand TV Show, previously held by only The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. Meanwhile, Squid Game is the first non-English language show to win for Most In-Demand Series Debut.

The win-win situation for Attack on Titan happened also because of the explosive international growth period for the anime genre. Over the last two years, global demand for anime grew by over 118%, and the genre’s global demand share increased from 4.2% to 7.1%. Anime was the third most in-demand global subgenre in 2021, behind only crime dramas and sitcoms.

The Global TV Demand Awards is the world’s first unbiased, data-driven TV award show as the winners are determined by the audience demand around the world with no involvement of judges and voting committees. The data is collected from all over the world based on user actions on multiple streaming platforms and social media.
