Hajime Isayama’s Attack On Titan is currently airing its fourth & final season of the series. Rumours are there would be a movie adaptation of Attack On Titan last few chapters. However, leaving this fact aside the franchise is doing pretty well in the manga sales as Volume 1 of AOT has turned out to be the top-selling manga volume of 2021.

On Wednesday, media news website ICv2 posted a list of the top 20 highest-selling manga volumes in 2021 based on NPD BookScan data from Jan 2021 – Jan 2022. According to its analysis of sales reported by NPD BookScan and ComicHub, Hajime Isayama’s Attack On Titan ranked first on the list followed by My Hero Academia.

Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto is the only work in the list that made its way into the top 20 without an anime adaptation. Apart from it, My Hero Academia, Attack On Titan & Demon Slayer were the big gainers as all three received a high number of manga sales in 2021 alone.

NPD BookScan collects weekly point-of-sale data on print books from over 16,000 locations in which it covers approximately 85% of the U.S. trade print book market. After that, the ranks are determined on the basis of piece sales all over the country.

ICv2 also posted a list of the “Most Efficient Manga Franchises” for retailer bookshelves as well based on the website’s calculations of which manga franchises had the highest sales per volume. One-Punch Man was leading the chart followed by Demon Slayer holding the second spot.
