Author Confirms Fire Force To Be A Prequel Story Of Soul Eater
Fire Force manga’s final chapter has officially been released in Japan and with this, the series came to an end after 7 years of serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine. However, the final chapter of Fire Force ignited a viral discussion in the fandom which proves that Fire Force is a prequel story of Soul Eater.
In the final chapter of Atsushi Ōkubo’s Fire Force manga, some fans found a lot of similarities between the two series which confirms that the series was a prequel to Ōkubo’s previous work, Soul Eater. The Easter eggs they found in both worlds are really astonishing.
Fire Force Chapter 303 titled “A World Without Spontaneous Human Combustion” introduced a new character named Excalibur in its final panels. In the Soul Eater universe, Excalibur is a well-known character and is a sentient legendary sword of fable. His age is determined to be 800 years in the manga.
Moreover, readers saw glimpses of the first witch in the bonus panels as well. Fire Force fans got introduced to the witch Inca who tends to have a resemblance with Soul Eater’s witch character Kim Diehl. Additionally, the protagonist of the Soul Eater series, Maka also made an appearance in the final chapter of Fire Force.
This is not the first time the fans of both the franchises have found similarities between the two mangas. There is a cross-universe connection between both the shows as well because the Soul Eater‘s Grinning Moon and the Sun in Fire Force are in resemblance to each other and fans hinted at it a while back.
Fire Force has too many references, which clearly proves that the manga is a prequel story of Soul Eater. And with the release of the final chapter of Fire Force, the author also confirmed that the story of Fire Force takes place in the same world of Soul Eater, but a long time ago.
Atsushi Ōkubo created Soul Eater first, and the manga has a total of 113 chapters compiled into 25 volumes. It was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Magazine from May 2004 to August 2013. However, Fire Force has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since September 2015, with its chapters collected into 32 volumes.
Soul Eater received a 51-episode anime adaptation in 2008 by Studio Bones meanwhile, Fire Force was adapted into anime in 2019 by David Production and as of now, the anime has released two seasons. Both the shows are licensed by Funimation.
