Barcelona Player ‘Goku Style’ Goal Celebration Against Real Madrid Gone Viral
Professional athletes from around the world have displayed their interest in the Japanese anime culture from time to time. Whether it’s NBA, UFC or championship matches of football, anime has always been involved in a classy way and in another incident on Monday night, the Barcelona player showcased his Goku move.
On March 21, the popular Spanish football club Barcelona took on its arch-rivals Real Madrid in the El Clasico group stage match played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Barcelona who was on a 4-win streak before the match shocked up the rivals once again by beating them with a huge margin of 4-0.
However, despite the 4-0 margin against Real Madrid, what hogged all the limelight was Aubameyang’s unique celebration after his second goal in the 51st minute of the match. After putting the ball past the keeper, the striker grabbed a small ball from the crowd and made a reference to the famous “Dragon Ball Z” anime character Goku.
The entire crowd as well as the players on the field took notice of this extraordinary and rare celebration of Aubameyang. The footballer posted the similar celebration with a photo of Goku on his Twitter account as well and in no time the tweet went viral with tons of comments and over 365K likes.
On asked by a reporter about the meaning of this remarkable celebration, the 32-year-old Aubameyang said, “You can ask for a wish with this ball and I had asked to win the game and score a goal. A friend passed the ball to me, we prepared it today.” And, he did a fabulous job in the match by registering two crucial goals and an assist to his name.
Barcelona’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in sensational form since joining the club earlier this year on a free transfer from Premier League side Arsenal. The striker is known for his pace & his finishing ability and now, he will be known in the anime community for his special signature celebration inspired by Goku.
