Chainsaw Man & Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Got Censored In Malaysia
Censorship of an anime or manga series is not a new topic in the community, fans are experiencing it for a very long time. Many popular franchises have faced this issue before, and this time the action has been taken against the highly recognized Gege Akutami’s work “Jujutsu Kaisen”.
In a recent Reddit post, a fan of the Jujutsu Kaisen series posted a picture of Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 12 which was seen to be censored. The user further added that it was from Malaysia where a store selling these mangas decided to censor Volume 12 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Check out the picture below.
Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 12 features Mei Mei on the front cover and she can be seen a little bold there. So, the store that received the manga put a piece of paper over the manga’s plastic, covering the character’s body so that it would not cause any problems.
The bookseller didn’t want to display the Jujutsu Kaisen volume like that and as a result, decided to put a label on the naked part of Mei Mei. Additionally, the content inside the volume is still the same and there is not a single page that got censored unnecessarily.
However, it’s not the first time that stores in Malaysia have applied censorship of this kind on manga covers. They did the same thing when Chainsaw Man Volume 6 was released which featured the character of Reze in a naked pose on the cover.
Once, the Malaysian government censored the popular series “Attack On Titan” as well. This time not the cover, but the entire manga & anime series with the scenes of giant Titans was censored. Instead of the naked Titans, Malaysia gave shorts to them in the entirety of the series.
