Demon Slayer Season 2 Beats Winter Olympics In TV Viewership Battle
The weekends will not be fun anymore for Demon Slayer fans as the second season of the anime TV series has been finally concluded. But, the series left a huge impression on the ranking charts of the media industry, especially in Japan where it broke the viewership record of Winter Olympics 2022.
Video Research Limited, a Japanese marketing research company published the user data which showcased the anime television ratings in Japan between Jan 31 – Feb 6. During this period, Winter Olympics 2022 kicked off in Beijing and Demon Slayer Season 2 delivered its penultimate episode.
The ratings demonstrated that Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 10 racked millions of viewers in a single week eventually beating the peak individual viewership broadcast ratings of both the regular programming of the Beijing Olympics 2022 and its opening ceremony.
Episode 10 of Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc delivered a jaw-dropping action sequence with what might be Ufotable’s some of the finest work yet. Within the first 7 days, the episode was viewed by a whopping 17.73 million viewers (14.1%) in 10.78 million households all over Japan.

The Beijing Olympics which kicked off on Feb 4, scored a viewership rating of 13.7% across 17.23 million viewers.
Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc has also been the Most Popular TV Show in the Japanese SVOD (Subscription Video-On-Demand) services for a consecutive 18 weeks and was also the Most-Watched TV Show of 2021 in 19 different streaming services across Japan.
These anime television ratings are further proof of the fact that Attack on Titan might be the biggest anime in the world right now, but in Japan, the popularity of Demon Slayer is unparallel.
