The craze among the Japanese audience about Demon Slayer is exponentially high and this can be seen by the fact that the anime television series ranked first in the country for a record 21 weeks straight. And, seeing such stunning growth, the government of Japan has decided to add Demon Slayer to national textbooks.

On Tuesday, the education ministry of Japan released the results of this year’s textbook screening. Senior high school textbooks for social studies were revised to include the essential topics that need to be added to the next semester for the students. In the list of different topics, some manga names were listed out of which Demon Slayer was the most notable one.

According to the newly released syllabus, author Koyoharu Gotouge‘s popular manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be introduced in the Literary National Language textbooks for second-year high school students in Japan starting next year i.e. Spring 2023.

In addition to Demon Slayer, information about music band YOASOBI and Karuho Shiina‘s manga Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You will also be included in the textbooks. More importantly, the 2016 movie “Shin Godzilla” will be used as an example to teach the students about nuclear and radioactive energy in the Exploring World History textbooks.

In the foreword of the content, it said, “Words are the life of not only novels, but also manga, anime, live-action movies, and lyrics. By understanding the words of the authors expressed through the works and refining our sensibilities as beneficiaries, our language sense will be even richer.”

By including them, the Ministry of Education aims to develop expressiveness and rich imagination. Abema TV reported, that from April next year, two new elective courses namely – “Exploring Japanese History” and “Exploring World History” will be added in order to realize independent, interactive, and deep learning.
