Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero US Box Office Collection Shatters All The Records
The most anticipated anime movie of the Dragon Ball franchise, “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” has finally arrived in the theatres of North America, and fans are really hyped to watch their heroes on the big screen once again. Despite a poor performance in Japan, the film opened with a banger in the West and on the very first day Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero US box office collection grossed $10 million.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie released theatrically in the United States on August 19 under the Crunchyroll brand. As expected, the movie performed extremely well at the ticket counter and earned a massive revenue of $10.8 million on its opening day. This clearly indicates that there were plenty of fans waiting for the Dragon Ball to make a comeback.
In comparison to other successful anime movie openings in the past couple of years, Demon Slayer Mugen Train earned $9.5 million on its first day meanwhile, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 grossed $8.6 million this year. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero US box office collection is way ahead of these two popular anime films.
Furthermore, DBS: Super Hero has also broken the 23-year-old record of the “best opening day of all time for an anime” by beating Pokemon The First Movie at the US Box-office! While Super Hero collected $10.8M on its opening day, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back grossed around $10.1M. These remarkable numbers indicate that DBS: Super Hero is the most successful anime movie in the franchise.
With the anime movie eyeing to top domestic box office charts for the weekend, DBS: Super Hero is projecting a $21 million opening from 3,007 locations, which marks the widest release ever for the distributor. It’s also the widest release ever for an anime film, which includes a massive footprint in premium format auditoriums like Imax, 4DX, and Dolby Cinemas.
