Hayao Miyazaki’s Final Film Reveals First Trailer With US Release Date
The long-awaited first trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years, “The Boy and the Heron,” has been released, along with a North America premiere date. Fans are delighted to hear the return of the legendary filmmaker on the screens and they’re excited ahead of the film release in their nearby theatres.

from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki. The first trailer gives a glimpse into the film’s story, which follows a young boy named Mahito who ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead.

One of the most exciting aspects of Miyazaki’s new film is his return to hand-drawn animation. “The Boy and the Heron” is Miyazaki’s first film since 2013’s “The Wind Rises”, and he has already confirmed that this will be his final film, making it a highly anticipated release for fans of his work.
Produced by Studio Ghibli, made its debut in Japanese theatres this year in July and now it’s going to open in theatres for the North American fans. The film features a musical score from Miyazaki’s long-time collaborator Joe Hisaishi. The theme song for the film “Spinning Globe” was penned and performed by global J-pop superstar Kenshi Yonezu.
The Boy and the Heron US Release Date
“The Boy and the Heron” will open in nationwide theatres of US & Canada on December 8, 2023. The film is released by GKids and will be available in IMAX version which is sure to be a major event for Studio Ghibli movies fans in December.
