“Shinkon-san Irasshai!” is a Japanese reality TV show hosted by comedian Takashi Fujii and actress Sakura Inoue, known for interviewing newlywed couples. Each week, the show features heartwarming love stories, but this week’s episode stood out with a plot that felt straight out of an anime—or perhaps even a hentai storyline.
On Sunday, February 16, TV Asahi aired a new episode of the soap opera revealing the “forbidden love” of a man who married his classmate’s mother. How did it start? The hosts asked the newlyweds a few questions, probing into their unconventional relationship.
The couple, who have a 21-year age gap (husband 32, wife 53), first met at a school event, where she was the mother of his classmate. However, their romance didn’t begin until years later when they met again as adults.
After reconnecting a decade later, the man claimed, “her pheromones captivated him,” and he immediately fell in love at first sight. Determined to win her heart, he actively pursued her and even arranged a dinner through his former classmate. However, when she arrived expecting a simple meal, he boldly confessed, “Please go out with me.”
Unsurprisingly, she rejected him, calling it a “ridiculous” idea. But as they spent more time together, she gradually warmed up to him. She later admitted that at the time, she had just gone through a divorce and was emotionally vulnerable, making his presence a source of comfort and support.

As they neared 30 consecutive days of seeing each other, he confessed again at a nearby park. When she once again refused, saying, “I still can’t go out with you,” he broke down in tears. The couple even reenacted this emotional moment in a video segment on the show.
Despite their growing connection, there were significant obstacles—especially the reaction from her daughter and societal judgment. The mother continued to resist the relationship until she received an encouraging LINE message from her daughter, which gave her the push she needed to accept his love.
Even after they began dating, the biggest hurdle remained: introducing each other to their families. No matter how he explained it, their families strongly opposed the relationship. But after overcoming many challenges, they held onto their love and officially married in July last year.
