Japanese Parents Ranks Manga They Want Their Child To Read
When it comes to school & extracurricular activities, Japanese parents are very concerned about their children. They want the best for them and plan accordingly for a better future for their kid however, that doesn’t mean they’re strict and harsh on them. And, a recent survey on shōnen manga recommendations gives better insights into how parents think.
Being born in a country like Japan means you’ll definitely be introduced to the anime & manga community and that’s the best thing about the country. The influence of such a series on kids is remarkable as in some manner these fictional stories demonstrate the cultural and historical values of Japan. And, that raises a big concern about the fact that what do parents want for their children in the area of anime & manga?
On this topic, recently a survey was conducted by a Japanese education media, “Ouchi Kyouzai no Mori”, operated by ARINA. The main purpose of the survey was to find out which shōnen manga parents want their children to read. And, the results from the survey reports are quite interesting. Let’s take a look at the report.
According to the survey, more than 38% of the parents recommended Takehiko Inoue’s sports-themed series “Slam Dunk” to be on the list of shōnen manga series they want their children to read. The parents mentioned this series so that their kids learn about hardships & joy and be passionate about basketball.
Slam Dunk is a good manga that teaches you how to cultivate teamwork and unity, and that’s the reason it was selected by most of the parents. The list also includes highly recognized shōnen manga “One Piece” and the new-gen animanga “Demon Slayer” as well.

• Easy to understand the story and can be seen by the whole family.
#4 Rurouni Kenshin by Nobuhiro Watsuki
• It will also be a study of history.

• Kids can feel smarter taking inspiration from Conan.
In addition to just having fun, a manga that leads to children’s education, such as “learning history” and “becoming a brain teaser”, were the main focal point of this ranking. The survey included a total of 200 parents from ages 20 to 60 in March 2022.
