Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Nominated For ‘Best Animated Film’ Category In Academy Awards
2022 is turning out to be the golden year for the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise as just in, it has been officially confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is nominated for the ‘Best Animated Film’ category in the upcoming Japanese Academy Awards which is a great honour for the series.
The Japanese entertainment industry confirmed just a while ago that then newly released Jujutsu Kaisen movie will be a part of the 45th Japanese Academy Awards and is nominated in the category of ‘Excellent Animation Work’ alongside other works which includes Sing a Bit of Harmony, Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time and Belle.
The 45th Japanese Academy Awards will be held in Tokyo, Japan on March 11, 2022, and will be hosted by Shinichi Hatori & Masami Nagasawa. As of now, the event will be held normally just like every year and both in-person and broadcast arrangements have been done by the organizers. More details about ticket prices will be announced in mid-February on the official website.
Last year, the ‘Best Animated Film’ award was grabbed by the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie based on the manga written & illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. And, it also became the highest-grossing anime movie in 2021 by dethroning Spirited Away from the top spot. And, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is following the same steps after its biggest opening release day.
Till now, the box-office collection of Jujutsu Kaisen movie has exceeded 8.6 billion yen with over 6 million admissions in the past 25 days. And, it’s still holding the 2nd position in the Japanese box-office only behind the Hollywood sensation ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on the manga series created by Gege Akutami. The film has been produced by MAPPA and distributed by Toho Animation which premiered theatrically in Japan on December 24, 2021. Sunghoo Park has directed the movie meanwhile, King Gnu performed the opening & ending theme songs of the film.
In the movie, Megumi Ogata is voicing the lead role of Yuta Okkotsu. The supporting cast includes Kana Hanazawa (Rika), Mikako Komatsu (Maki), Kōki Uchiyama (Inumaki), Tomokazu Seki (Panda), Yūichi Nakamura (Gojo) and Takahiro Sakurai (Geto).
Now, after a successful run in Japan, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is all set to release in South Korea & Hongkong in February 2022. The release dates in other international theatres are yet to be decided by the makers but as soon as it will be announced, you’ll be updated here.
