Jujutsu Kaisen 0 US Box Office Collection Beats Demon Slayer On First Day

The first-ever movie of the Japanese media franchise Jujutsu Kaisen titled “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” has finally arrived in the theatres of North America. With the release of the movie in the United States, the movie stunned the audience on the first day of its premiere and also, broke the record of the Demon Slayer box-office collection.

On March 18th, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie premiered in the theatres of North America. The film opened with English subtitles and with an English dub in the U.S. and Canada on Friday. Thousands of people attended the early screenings of the film produced by Studio MAPPA. The film was released across 2300+ theatres including the IMAX screenings in the United States.

According to reports, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 grossed over US$8.63 million on Friday including the US$2.8 million from the early screenings of the show on Thursday night. However, the highest-grossing anime movie “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” debuted in the United States with the box-office collection of US$9.5 million (US$3.8 million from early screenings).

Although, on comparing the single-day tally of both the movies excluding the special screenings, Jujutsu Kaisen movie exceeded the box-office collection of Demon Slayer as Jujutsu Kaisen 0 earned US$5.8 million on Friday in comparison to the US$5.7 million of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie.

There is no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is outshining the United States box office because the film is already breaking records in Japan. The film is now the #1 highest-earning film at the Japanese box office from the 2021 calendar year and has grossed over US$100 million worldwide.

Apart from North America, Crunchyroll has also revealed the international release dates of the Jujutsu Kaisen movie for other countries as well. All the confirmed countries in which “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” is coming are listed on the official website of Crunchyroll. The film is directed by Sunghoo Park & produced by MAPPA.

The film is based on the manga series ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ written & illustrated by Gege Akutami. In the movie, Megumi Ogata is voicing the lead role of Yuta Okkotsu. The supporting cast includes Kana Hanazawa (Rika), Mikako Komatsu (Maki), Kōki Uchiyama (Inumaki), Tomokazu Seki (Panda), Yūichi Nakamura (Gojo) and Takahiro Sakurai (Geto).
