Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Increased Manga Sales By 10 Times

Jujutsu Kaisen movie released theatrically on Dec 24 all over Japan. Not a week has passed since its premiere and the film has earned an estimated total of 3.9 billion yen (US $33.9 million) with a bunch of other records as well that includes the surge in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga sales drastically.

This time, the manga sales of Jujutsu Kaisen increased by 10 times after ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ debuted in theatres. As per Oricon reports, Jujutsu Kaisen sold 108, 471 copies between Dec 13-19 meanwhile, between Dec 20-26 there was a surge in the sales as it reached a total of 1.1 million manga copies were sold during this period.

The most notable point is that the above rise in sales happened in just three days as the film was released on Dec 24. The film helped in increasing the backlog volume sales of the series however, out of 1.1 million copies Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 18 alone sold an estimated total of 789,861 copies during its first week i.e. between Dec 20-26.

Jujutsu Kaisen movie has boosted the sales chart of the franchise in the last couple of days as the film has turned out to be the most successful anime movie of 2021. On its first day, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 earned a total of 1.05 billion yen and became the 2nd highest-grossing anime opening of all time.

Moreover, this year the franchise also performed well in media sales by earning a whopping US $ 160 million and ranked 2nd on the list of best-selling anime franchises of 2021. And, now the manga sales are also adding more to the success of this series.
