The award-winning novel Lord of Mysteries is experiencing a great year, with its donghua set to release this summer and a game currently in production. Adding to the excitement, reports suggest that the series is also preparing for a manhua adaptation.

On X/Twitter, user @LOTM_WORLD broke the news that the internationally recognized western fantasy web novel Lord of Mysteries will undergo a manhua remake/redraw. The first chapter is reportedly set to release on Chinese New Year, i.e. January 29.

Shortly after the announcement, the user shared frames from the first chapter of manhua, showcasing noticeable improvements in art style and visuals that perfectly capture the eerie atmosphere of the Lord of Mysteries universe.

The previous version of the manhua faced challenges at its initial release, with conflicts arising between the studio and fans of the novel. Issues such as art style, quality, and lack of support from the original fanbase led to the manhua being put on hold. However, the series is now receiving the long-overdue remake it deserves.

The original author of Lord of Mysteries, Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, commented on the new adaptation, stating, “The new version will place greater emphasis on the reader’s experience, feature improved original artwork, and have a storyline that aligns more closely with the original novel.”

Currently, the IP diversification of the Lord of Mysteries IP is in full swing. The recently released audiobook of the web novel surpassed 1.2 billion plays on Chinese platforms, underscoring the massive popularity of the series.

Notably, as the brand matures in China, Lord of Mysteries is also gaining international recognition. With the animated series by Tencent set to release in Summer 2025, the series is expected to attract even more fans worldwide.

Written by Chinese author Cuttlefish That Loves Diving and published on QiDian, Lord of Mysteries is a fantasy, mystery, and eldritch horror story set in an alternate world. The plot follows Zhou Mingrui, a man from Earth who wakes up in the body of Klein Moretti.

In a steampunk-inspired world of gods, secret societies, and mysterious powers, Klein Moretti seeks to find a way back home while maintaining his sanity and uncovering the truth about his existence.
