Misfit Of Demon King Academy’s Ugly CGI Animation Draws Criticism
Computer-generated imagery (CGI) has always been a point of discussion within the anime community. While the animation studios often use 3D animation to cost-cut the production process, it has seen little to no success so far and the isekai fantasy anime “Misfit of Demon King Academy” is the latest addition to it.
Misfit of the Demon King Academy recently dropped its much-awaited Episode 15 of its ongoing second season. Titled “Institute of the Gods”, the new episode saw Anos Voldigoad and his friends arriving in the Underground World as they tried to infiltrate the dragon’s den.
As soon as the episode hit the streaming platforms, it attracted a flurry of insults and ridicule on social networks for a segment that featured CGI-based dragon models. Many fans criticized the episode, labeling it the “worst episode” in anime history due to the perceived low-quality use of 3D animation.
The episode has received a bag of negative reviews for obvious reasons, including the dragon models that appear to be extremely rigid and stand out too much from the other two-dimensional models. Additionally, the movements of the CG dragon models seem to be very robotic, and the movement pattern with very short cycles is quite noticeable.
All of this attracted a multitude of negative comments from the audience as they compared it to the CG monster designs in “KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World”. Apparently, the animation was so poorly done that even fans of “Berserk” admitted that their own show was much better in comparison to the terrible scene.
Misfit of the Demon King Academy is currently being produced by Silver Link studio under the production of Aniplex and it’s worth mentioning that the second season of the series went through several suspensions due to production problems, yet even this extra time was not enough to improve the final quality.
