Natsuki Hanae Thought He’d Die Recording Tanjiro’s Fight In Season 2
AnimeJapan 2022 wrapped up pretty smoothly with a lot of small anime projects being announced in the two-day event in Japan. Many popular voice actors attended their respective anime stages sharing their experiences and a similar story was told by the voice actor of Tanjiro, Natsuki Hanae who admitted that he struggled to voice in a recording session.
At the special stage for Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer at AnimeJapan 2022, the cast of the anime television series which includes Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro), Katsuyuki Konishi (Tengen), Akari Kito (Nezuko), Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu) and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Inosuke) graced the stage with their presence.
The voice actors recounted their experiences from the recording sessions, as clips from Demon Slayer Season 2 played on the big screen. In a scene from Episode 10, where Tengen & Tanjiro fights Gyutaro, Natsuki Hanae revealed that he thought he would die due to the difficult recording sessions in this scene.
Looking at Tanjiro’s fight in Episode 10 of Entertainment District Arc, Hanae said, “The post-recording was so hard every week I thought I would die. Everyone was screaming all the time, it was amazing.” The voice actor of Tengen also admitted that the recordings required a lot of physical work and were very hard.
The seiyuu further added that he ended up getting goosebumps and crying while watching the scene on air. “The recording required a lot of physical strength and was very hard work, but I enjoyed the clash with the Gyutaro. I got goosebumps watching the scene on air. It had been a long time since I cried in a scene that was not a moving scene,” Konishi said.
Besides the difficult recording sessions during the Demon Slayer Season 2, Natsuki Hanae praised the efforts of Daki’s voice actress and his colleague’s voice acting skills. He commented on Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke fighting together in Episode 8 of the anime, saying he was moved.
According to Hanae, the Demon Slayer Corps fought by connecting the thoughts and feelings of people. Similarly, the anime too is made possible because of the thoughts and feelings of many people. Hanae said that he would accept these thoughts and feelings and continue to do his best to voice Tanjiro.
