Netflix Renews Avatar The Last Airbender For Final Two Seasons
Netflix’s latest live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, will be returning for two more seasons. The streaming service has confirmed that the dramatic reimagining of Aang’s journey to become the Avatar in the fantastical world will conclude with the final two seasons.
Through its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Netflix released a poster visual announcing the double-season renewal of “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. The live-action adaptation will end with Season 3, sharing a similar season format with the animated version which told its story across three seasons.
In a video conference call, Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action star Daniel Dae Kim broke this news to his fellow actors who seemed excited about the next project. However, the streaming service hasn’t confirmed a tentative date for the release of Seasons 2&3 as production for the same is yet to begin.
Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series debuted at #1 on Netflix, receiving 15% higher viewership in comparison to 2023’s chartbuster One Piece live-action premiere. Since its release, the series has been Netflix’s top English TV show and has amassed over 41 million views globally in its first two weeks.
What To Expect From Avatar The Last Airbender Season 2 & Season 3?
Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has quite a lot to cover from what is left of Nickelodeon’s original animated series. While the first season of the live-action series sets up Aang’s journey to becoming the Avatar, the second season will see Aang and his friends trip to Ba Sing Se where they search for an Earthbending teacher.
The follow-up season will conclude Aang’s tale with him seeking to learn Firebending. Starring Gordon Cormier (as Aang), Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley (as Katara), and Dallas Liu (as Zuko), all eight episodes of the first season of the live-action series are currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
