2017 hit popular action role-playing game titled ‘Nier: Automata’ is in headlines once again. This time the skeptical rumours on social media suggests that the Nier: Automata anime is now a certain possibility because the anime adaptation is in production.

According to a series of posts on different social media platforms, it has been confirmed that Nier: Automata is getting an anime adaptation and the news will be shared with the fans very soon. There is nothing mentioned about the staff or production studio just an assurance that anime is under works.

However, the reactions of the fans are very mixed. Some are really happy with the news while others are not that satisfied with the new move by the producers of the game. They think of it as a destructive move in regards to the future of the series.

According to them, the gaming medium is structured in a proper manner to tell the story of Nier: Automata that can’t be easily translated into an anime. The gameplay features alternate endings and other mechanisms which is very difficult to convey through the anime counterpart.

Others argued that Nier: Automata was meant to be a game since the beginning as the series creator Yoko Taro envisioned it to be one. So, expanding it to other mediums like an anime adaptation will not do it any justice. But, there are other fans as well who are in support of this initiative and are looking forward to this project.

Nier: Automata is a 2017 action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix. The game was originally released for PlayStation 4 and Windows. But, later in 2018, it was launched for Xbox One users as well.

The game is part of the Drakengard series and is a sequel to the 2010 video game Nier. Set during a proxy war between alien-created machines and human-crafted androids, the story follows the trials of combat android 2B, scanner android 9S, and rogue prototype A2.

The story requires multiple playthroughs, each unlocking additional story elements. Gameplay combines role-playing elements with action-based hack & slash combat and features switch between video game genres similar to that of Nier with elements ranging from shooting them up to text adventure.

In 2014, the game creator Yoko Taro began the production of Nier: Automata with a vision to make a Nier game true to the spirit of the original, while simultaneously crafting a better combat system. As a result of it, the story references several philosophies and explores themes of finding value in life & the reasons people kill.

Later, the game was praised for its story, themes, gameplay, and music. The physical copy sales of the game surpassed everyone’s expectations; as of July 2021, the game sold over 6 million copies worldwide.
