One Piece Fans Offer Support To Rescue Fellow ‘Nakama’ Amid Russia-Ukraine War
The increasing tension amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is very concerning and the situation is getting worse every minute. Thousands of people are living under the shades of fear and are forced to leave their homes. Amidst such a massacre, a keen fan of “One Piece” from Ukraine took to Reddit to express his uncertain situation hanging between life and death.
On Thursday, a Reddit user from Kyiv, Ukraine summarized a bleak scenario, expressing his fear about the ongoing war in his country. In the post, he showed concern about the possibility of losing his life to the bombings before seeing the end of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, One Piece. He asked the other fellow Nakama to remember him when they witness the end of One Piece.
Fuck man fuck. I don’t want to die. I have many regrets in life but one of my greatest regrets will be that I will die without knowing what One Piece truly is. It’s truly been a long and fun journey guys. I hope everyone lives to see the end of this journey. I’m hearing blasts and I think this is where my journey ends. Farewell nakamas!
The post went viral on Reddit and garnered over 15,000 upvotes. Seeing this, many fellow One Piece ‘Nakamas’ came forward to offer their condolences & verbal support to the resident living there. They asked him not to lose hope or give up and gave the example of the mighty God Usopp who managed to survive in the face of death without any special powers.
One user even offered to buy plane tickets for him even though they didn’t know each other at all. After that, several comments poured in to help the Ukrainian with a similar sentiment however, he declined the offer saying that he just want to share his last moments with similar-minded people before going into this chaos.
Furthermore, the user also revealed that even if he accepts the money it would be of no use, as the nearby airports have been bombarded trapping all citizens inside the country. And, the president of Ukraine has also banned citizens aged 18 to 60 to leave the country. So, there is nothing that can be done.
The last update from the user came on Friday morning, where he revealed that his wireless connection has been cut off and he was almost out of mobile data as well. He signed off by saying that he was very grateful for all the kind comments and if he survives he will let the others know.
Apart from it, the concerning situation in Ukraine has not gone unnoticed by the entertainment world. Many professionals in the anime & manga industry including the director of Vinland Saga has commented on the situation. The author of Bleach, Tite Kubo drew art in support of the Ukrainian people as well.
