Spy x Family is currently the most in-demand anime television series and fans are loving the show like crazy. In a matter of weeks, the series has become the 2nd highest-rated anime on MAL and also the best selling manga in April 2022. Everyone is enjoying the story characters, especially Anya but, seems like the author of Spy x Family isn’t fond of his own creation.

Recently, an official fanbook for the popular manga series, Spy x Family titled “EYES ONLY” was released. In the fanbook, the author of the series, Tatsuya Endo made some unbelievable revelations which were quite astonishing to hear. Endo-sensei stated that in general, he has no attachment with the characters of Spy x Family.

According to an interview published in the fanbook, when the author of Blue Exorcist Kazuo Kato complimented Endo for the character design of Loid Forger, Spy x Family creator sarcastically replied, “I gave up on what I originally wanted to draw and drew what the world wants to see, not myself, so I have no attachment to the characters.”

Tatsuya Endo further revealed that he was told by his editor that cool and cute characters like Loid & Anya are important for manga popularity. Although, he didn’t listen much to them and continued to create works like “Ishi ni Usubeni” and “Tetsu ni Hoshi” which ultimately did not turn out to be as successful as Spy x Family in the industry.

In the fanbook, Endo-sensei also stated that he started working on this action-comedy manga just to break out of an artist’s block and he considers the Spy x Family series as rehabilitation work for him. He added, “Spy x Family is a rehabilitation work for me to revive as a mangaka when I fell into a slump”. The author also mentioned that he doesn’t really like spies.

However, the editor of Tatsuya Endo and his colleague for ten years, Shihei Lin revealed in an interview that a long time ago the two started planning for a series that would feature in Shonen Jump+ and after combining the strengths of Endo’s previous works; they came up with “Spy × Family”.

The serialization of the manga series started in 2019 and in just a couple of years, the manga turned out to be a huge success. As of now, the manga has exceeded over 350 million reads on the Shonen Jump+ digital platform and over 18 million physical manga copies have been sold till now.

At the moment, Spy x Family is airing its anime television series as well and the series is performing brilliantly on different media platforms. The first season is listed with 25 episodes and will be split into two cours. Spy x Family episode 6 is scheduled to premiere on May 14, 2022, on the streaming platforms like Netflix, YouTube and Crunchyroll.
