Top 10 Extremely Dangerous Anime Powers That Could Kill The User
There are times when an anime character receives incredible supernatural powers however, he or she doesn’t intend to use them. Now, you’ll think what’s the problem with using the powers? Well, there is because not every power-up granted to the user in the anime world is beneficial and safe as there exist some extremely dangerous anime powers that could kill the user.
Just because an ability looks marvellous, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the user will love to use it every time, after all, not everyone is Luffy or Bakugo right! There co-exist anime powers that hurt the user, in fact, sometimes the consequences are so severe that a person would need to think long and hard before using the abilities at all.
And, in today’s article, we’ll take a look at some of the extremely dangerous anime powers which often bring the user significant benefits but they come at a great personal cost. So, without any further ado let’s get started.
10. Shinigami Eyes – Misa Amane
The possession of Death Note is already a destructive power but even it wasn’t sufficient enough for Light until Ryuk came up with the trading system of “Shinigami Eyes”. In order to obtain the shinigami eyes, one must strike a deal with a Shinigami or the God of Death and trade half of his/her remaining lifespan to get access to this powerful ability.
Whether it is a random person’s name or how long someone would live, the Shinigami Eyes can give users access to both. The only downside of this ability is that it reduces the lifespan to half every time the user makes a deal with Shinigami. Although Light intended to be the God of the New World, he never made a deal with Ryuk instead he manipulated Misa to give her life span not once but twice for the sake of her love.
9. One For All – Izuku Midoriya
Being the main protagonist of a popular shōnen series, the life of Midoriya has always been very odd. First, he was born with no powers in a world where 80% of the population has a special power called quirk. Later, he somehow inherited the powers from his superhero idol All Might, but eventually wasn’t able to constraint it making himself one of the few anime characters who can’t fully control their power.
Midoriya’s One For All quirk is not dangerous for others, but it surely has adverse effects on his body. He must be in peak physical condition to be instantly not crushed by it. Still, it’s no guarantee that his quirk will not turn his bones into pulp. Though his control increases with training, he tried his best to use his abilities by consistent practice and enduring severe pain every time.
8. Dragon Of The Darkness Flame – Hiei
Hiei is one of the overpowered beings when it comes to unleashing the powers to their full extent. The powerhouse of Hiei’s unmatchable strength is the “Jagan Eye”. Also called, Evil Eye it is one of the most destructive and powerful eyes in anime which is the key to some of Hiei’s strongest abilities, and Dragon of the Darkness Flame is one of Hiei’s most powerful techniques. But it’s also one of the most dangerous anime powers as well.
When using this ability, Hiei can summon black flames from the depths of the spirit realm, which gather around his hand in the form of a terrifying dragon. While he’s able to slaughter his opponents with it, the technique severely damages his arm and causes him agonizing pain. Eventually, he wears bandages on his arm to suppress his Dragon of the Darkness Flame and practices to control the ability more effectively.
7. Corruption – Chuuya Nakahara
The former partner of Dazai, Nakahara Chuuya possesses a wonderful ability like “Upon the Tainted Sorrow” that allows him to manipulate gravity, create gravitons, and make changes to the gravity of his surroundings. Besides, this ability has a true form called “Corruption” which is exceedingly dangerous. This allows him to manipulate the gravitons around him and by increasing his own density, he is capable of crushing a tank with his bare hands.
It’s basically a much stronger version of his usual technique. But, the thing that makes it so dangerous is that he has no control over it whatsoever. He will destroy everything in sight and will continue in that state until he passes away from exhaustion or his ability gets nullified. For this reason, he only activates Corruption while being around Dazai who is the only person to stop him.
6. Notorious B.I.G. – Carne
Indeed, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is full of different types of powerful Stands but Notorious B.I.G is one of the few Stands that can still be active even after the user’s death, in fact, it activates only after the demise and then it feeds off energy to grow in size. It can also absorb Stand energy, which makes it immune to Stand attacks eventually making it invincible.
Notorious B.I.G. detects motion and is drawn to whatever moves the fastest within its range. The Stand can be impaled and diced into smaller pieces, but due to its power of regeneration, it cannot die. However, Notorious B.I.G is not unbeatable, and it can be bypassed since it doesn’t have a user. It is one of the most dangerous anime powers which has to be dealt with in unconventional ways.
5. Shield of Wrath – Naofumi Iwatani
Naofumi was summoned to another world to serve as the Shield Hero, one of the Four Legendary Heroes. While he managed to accumulate an impressive collection of shields during his brief time, there’s one that Naofumi is totally incapable of controlling, and that is the “Shield of Wrath”. When he uses this shield he can counter enemy attacks with an evil flame that creates burns.
However, he also gets consumed by the emotions of hate and rage which eventually corrupts Naofumi’s mind. This shield also leads to one of the dangerous anime powers i.e. Blutopher. The Blutopher requires the user’s blood, which makes it an exhausting and dangerous attack to use. Afterwards, the user will be unconscious for at least a day, and they risk losing their life if they don’t receive medical treatment.
4. Limitation Transformation – Gon Freecss
In the anime realm, we’ve seen countless bizarre anime transformations however, it sounds pretty mind-blowing when a 12-year-old kid brings out one of the most destructive power-ups. Yes, we’re talking about Gon Freecss from Hunter x Hunter. During the fight with Neferpitou, Gon was able to summon all the power he could by forming a vow in a condition of emotional distress.
The results were pretty explosive, as his physical strength, Nen abilities, aura output and aura reserves increased immensely, however, the price to pay was immeasurable. After Gon returned to his normal body, he fell into a coma. His body soon started to decay, requiring constant life support, and he would have eventually died if not for Nanika’s intervention.
3. Human Transmutation – Ed & Al
Have you ever read about the “law of equivalent exchange?” Well, if you haven’t then maybe you’ll find it difficult to understand this next destructive anime ability which follows the same concept as mentioned above. The Fullmetal Alchemist fans will relate more to it as Human Transmutation was first featured in the series which is a form of alchemy that supposedly brings people back to life.
When Edward and Alphonse Elric attempts to revive their mother, Ed loses his arm and his leg, while Al loses his entire body and is forced to live with a soul that’s fused to a suit of armor. The same thing happens with Izumi Curtis who loses some of her vital organs while trying to revive her stillborn child. This indicates that not only is this virtually impossible to bring back dead to life, but the cost of trying is also high.
2. Eight Inner Gates – Might Lee
Naruto is blessed with so many great anime heroes and villains that it is the central shaft of numerous destructive techniques that could harm its users as well. Eight Inner Gates is one such ability often used by the teacher-student duo of Might Guy and Rock Lee. The Eight Inner Gates is a taijutsu technique that involves opening up the chakra pathways in a person’s body.
Normally, these are blocked because too much power being unleashed at once is potentially fatal. Each time a gate is removed, the user is badly injured. While unlocking Gates 1 through 5 results in a rush of power, the opening of the 8th gate temporarily grants enough force to even damage someone as fearsome as Madara. However, anyone who uses the 8th gate, also called the Gate of Death, must sacrifice their life in exchange.
1. Possessing Spirit – Ohma Tokita
Possessing Spirit is a powerful power-boosting technique used by Ohma Tokita from Kengan Ashura. The Possessing Spirit involves overclocking of heartbeat that causes a shift in personality to where the user can eventually become a mindless berserker. Ohma referred to this technique as him taking out an “Advance” or “Loan” because of the negative side-effects of using the technique.
Its side effects include blood vessel damage, cerebral hemorrhaging, acute memory loss and confusion, visual and auditory hallucinations, and eventually heart failure and death. Another noted flaw is the increased rate of blood loss due to its inherent function. This means that even a deep yet single wound would be enough to kill its user if it isn’t deactivated. Because of its effects, it is usually used as a trump card.
