Top 10 Most Dangerous Places In Anime To Live In

Published by Gintoki on

The day you start watching anime it is always a dream to live in the fictional world with your favorite characters. After all, the imaginary worlds built in anime are quite intriguing and provide the most colorful experience and straight-up bizarre fantasy options. But, amid all this fun there lie some of the most dangerous places in anime where you should never dare to go.

For an anime lover, living in the fantasy world is the best thing possible but sometimes it can also be the worst thing ever as there are plenty of dangerous anime locations no one would ever want to see replicated in the real world. From dystopian war zones to hideous monsters, every single thing is possible in such a world to give the viewer a nightmare.

And, in today’s article, we’ll take a look at some of the most dangerous places in anime that are certainly the craziest anime settings for a normal human being to survive. So, without any further ado let’s get started.

10. Tokyo 3 – Neon Genesis Evangelion

The main setting of most of the “Evangelion” series is the third incarnation of Japan’s capital, Tokyo-3. Following the nuclear destruction of the capital of the country, Tokyo-3 was built as its intended replacement. However, the main purpose of the reconstructed city is to act as a veritable magnet for the monstrous beings called Angels.

This makes the city life miserable and residents’ lives none too secure. Tokyo-3 is so dangerous that the buildings are built to retract beneath the ground for safety. Huge sections of the city are destroyed during the battle between the Angels and Evangelion, and with every subsequent attack, the human civilization seems closer to whipping out.

9. Heavenly Host Academy – Corpse Party

There is nothing more adventurous and fun than school life. It’s the best place to explore the youthful life and also, to experience the dark horrifying world if you’re a student of Heavenly Host Academy. People have good memories associated with school life, but after watching the Corpse Party you’ll realise what dangerous places in anime look like.

After a series of gruesome kidnappings and murders, the academy was razed to the ground but after another school is rebuilt on the same land things start to get messed up. The students are transported into the spirit world where they encounter bloodthirsty ghosts and get killed in succession. Heavenly Host Academy is infamous for haunting teenage victims and as a student, you need guts to attend this school.

8. The Abyss – Made In Abyss

The Abyss is a mysterious, giant pit that stretches down into the farthest depths of the world. It’s filled with dangerous creatures as well as ancient relics and hidden treasures. When Riko and Reg decided to travel to the Abyss, their adventures were seemingly innocent and pure. But, they didn’t know what was waiting for them in the dark world of Abyss.

The Abyss contains many sections that have never been seen and carries several dangers. Hazardous habitats that defy common sense and otherworldly creatures adapted to the unique environment are major obstacles to explorers. It holds truly terrifying forces that are nightmare fuel and after witnessing Riko and Reg’s suffering, you definitely wouldn’t want to venture anywhere near this world.

7. The Capital – Akame Ga Kill!!

The capital of Akame Ga Kill! is definitely not the safest place to live, despite its shining walls and eternal wealth. The corrupt, self-serving government has exploited its citizens, using them as veritable slaves to create the city’s largest canal. In return, the governing body does almost nothing to improve the welfare of the city and poverty is the most common enemy of everyone.

Civil disorder is extensive, and so is the crime while those who go against the government are publicly tortured and executed. Living in Akame ga Kill is rather brutal, robbery and trickery are the everyday things. And, it is no wonder why a revolutionary army of assassins called Night Raids has arisen to combat such a tyrannical and negligent regime. Doesn’t matter whose side you’re on, death is certain!

6. Diclonius Research Institute – Elfen Lied

Whether you are a scientist or a guinea pig, no one is safe in the Diclonius Research Institute. Also known as the National Research Institute on Human Evolution, is built for the sole purpose of studying a mysterious species called Diclonius who have an excessive habit of killing people by causing their heads to burst with just a thought.

It’s a cruel facility that wants to control the psychokinetic evolution of humanity by any means necessary. The goal is to create more Diclonii and ensure they overthrow humans and take their place as the dominant species on Earth. However, being around this species is extremely dangerous, and sometimes the humans working there become fodder for the violent psychic outbursts of the very creatures they experiment on.

5. Prison – Deadman Wonderland

Prison is generally made for punishing the evildoers for the horrible acts they do in their lifetime but in Deadman Wonderland things are a little bit twisted which is why it’s one of the most dangerous places in anime. Deadman Wonderland is a privately owned institution that serves as both – a detention facility for criminals and an amusement park for tourists. All inmates are required to wear collars that continuously inject them with poison.

The only way to neutralize the poison is by eating a special kind of candy every three days. However, to buy this life-saving candy from the prison staff, prisoners have to put something at stake. Because nothing comes cheap, they are often forced to take part in life or death carnivals that provide entertainment for the masses. Just trying to stay alive during these cruel performances would make anyone yearn for lethal injection.

4. Tokyo City – Tokyo Ghoul

Tokyo is one of the most beautiful cities in Japan and every anime fan wishes to be there someday. But, your decision would still be the same after knowing that the city is filled with flesh-eating ghouls? Probably not, as it’s hard to even imagine being eaten by a lively ghoul. Not, in any case, a place like this sounds to be best for living. And, viewers have witnessed this scenario in the popular anime series, Tokyo Ghoul.

In the series, the city of Tokyo was made up of 24 wards and the ghouls used to live in hiding from humans but come out at night to hunt their prey. Trusting anyone blindly could turn out to be a trap and even seemingly innocent dates become a horrible nightmare in this city given that Kaneki’s hangout with Rize is the only reason he became a half-ghoul in the first place. So, watch out for beautiful girls if you’re in Tokyo!

3. Hope’s Peak Academy – Danganronpa

Academic institutions are no fun in this list and are the symbols of mass murders. The same goes for the Hope’s Peak Academy of Danganronpa franchise. Trapped by the mysterious black-and-white bear Monokuma, the fifteen students of Hope’s Peak Academy are forced to try to murder one another, with the condition that they can’t get caught.

If they do, the killer will be executed right there and the deathmatch will continue until there is only one survivor left. Far from the outside world and in such a small space, murder is really hard to get away with, and the so-called trials are almost unpredictable. With such odds of survival, the future just seems bleaker and bleaker in Hope’s Peak Academy.

2. Outside The Walls – Attack On Titan

Before Hajime Isayama tossed the coin of human survival amid the deadly naked giants that craved human flesh, life seemed pretty easy. The fictional world of Attack On Titan is nothing but an apocalypse where the last remnants of humanity live in fear of gigantic humanoid creatures called Titans. These giants devour human flesh and love nothing more than snacking on humans mindlessly.

While the whole world is likely occupied by the Titans, the area outside the walls is the most hotly contended space. As a result, any breach in the wall causes the Titans to swarm in by the dozens. It is a place where average life expectancy is pretty low and every minute is a terror. Even in dreams, one should not even think of traveling to this fantasy world of deaths and trauma.

1. NGL – Hunter x Hunter

The Neo-Green Life, or NGL, is an autonomous region in Hunter x Hunter that favors the old way of life and completely rejects modern technology. The citizens aren’t allowed advanced medicines and technological goods, suffering either imprisonment or death if they violate the rules. In order to enter the country, one had to go through an extensive full-body examination, X-ray scan, and ultrasound.

Living in NGL was already harsh enough, but it became one of the most dangerous places in anime after the entry of Chimera Ants. The region later turned into a feasting ground for the mutated Chimera Ant queen and a population of over 2.17 million civilians was scooped up just to fill the appetite of the queen.
