United States Marines Recruitment Poster Features An Anime Girl
The popularity of anime has grown to a larger extent in the past couple of years. Not the fastest, but this entertainment medium is probably growing with a rapid speed in the world right now and it looks like its fame has reached in the US military camp as well.
In a recent viral tweet by Sinecuris, the user posted a photo in which an anime girl wearing a Marine uniform can be seen clearly. Additionally, the user mentioned that this photo is a recruiting poster by United States Marines who are somehow trying to use the “power of anime” to recruit soldiers.
After the tweet went viral, fans on the internet started guessing the female anime character featured in the poster. Some said she looks quite similar to Violet Evergarden while others claimed her to be Saber Alter from Fate/Stay Night. However, the debate is still going on over the identity of an anime girl.
Later posted pictures by different users confirmed this fact to be true that the poster is indeed real and not an edited picture. However, the illustration is inspired by an image dating back to the First World War. A look at the United States Library of Congress describes the original picture as: ‘US Marine recruiting poster showing a Marine with a rifle on patrol the docks’.
A Twitter user quoted, “I am a Marine and I think it’s awesome! It reflects the old original it was based on and still looks squared away, plus the Marines love Japanese stuff. We’ve all been in or near Japan.” The original tweet has been liked by more than 45,000 users as of now.
Further investigation on the source led to the artist who made this anime illustration for the United States Marines recruitment poster. An artist named Eromoeba published a similar poster in 2020, confirming that this poster is indeed based on the Violet Evergarden. And, now it has been used by the US military to recruit new soldiers.
