Waifus Auctioned Off For 30-Minutes Date In A Special Anime Event
Anime girls always seek to draw the attention of the viewer when it comes to an anime or manga series. Sometimes fans use the term ‘waifu’ to show their affection and love towards a specific female character. But, have you ever imagined dating your favorite anime character in real?
In February, an anime event was held in the South American country, Bolivia. Just like any common anime event, there were several anime products & merch was on sale including the sales of sleeves, accessories, clothes and also a cosplay contest.
But what really drew attention at the event was a “Waifus Auction”. The auction worked like this, some cosplayers were presented on the stage and the public gathered there began to bid for their favorite waifu. Whoever wins the bid will have the right to go on a 30-minute date with a particular cosplayer.
Many participants entered into the auction cosplaying some popular anime characters including Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling and Chika Fujiwara from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. Out of all the cosplayers, Tamaki Kotatsu from Fire Force was sold at the highest price with the final bid of 110 Bolivian currency (about US$16).
This special ” Waifu Auction” event is clearly an idea that originated from the popular romance comedy anime series, Rent-A-Girlfriend. Moreover, many fans reacted on the “Waifu Auction” and the social media got flooded with mixed reviews from anime fans all over the world.
A user present at the event commented, “I was present at the event and saw some groups of men paying just to laugh at the situation, it looked like they were auctioning off a slave.” Another user wrote, “Imagine the level of virginity you have to have to pay for a 30-minute date.”
