Dandadan Anime Leaked Online Months Ahead Of Official Premiere
One of the most anticipated anime of 2024, “Dandadan,” will soon be the highlight of the fall season. The series has all it takes to become a potential candidate for anime of the year. However, right before its premiere on Netflix, the anime’s future has been jeopardized by the leak of its first six episodes online.
On Tuesday, the opening and ending theme songs of the upcoming Dandadan anime started surfacing on social media platform X. Initially appearing to be from official sources, it was later discovered that the theme songs had been leaked on the internet well before the series’s official debut on streaming platforms.
What’s worse, the first batch of Dandadan anime, consisting of six episodes, has also been leaked to the public domain. The original source of these leaks is unclear, but it has been reported that the leak originated from a server-side hack involving Netflix and their dubbing partner in Asia.
The incident not only affected Dandadan but also resulted in leaks of other anime projects, including the remake of “Ranma 1/2”, “Terminator Zero”, and the new “Mononoke” anime film. Netflix has not commented on the matter yet, but the discovery of six completed episodes of Dandadan on their servers months before the scheduled release has raised eyebrows.
Streaming partners of Dandadan are being scrutinized for allowing such a massive failure in their system. Additionally, there has not been any action or copyright takedown from the officials to control the widespread sharing of the unreleased content on social media, which is an apparent failure on their part.
Produced by Science SARU, the anime television series of Dandadan was originally planned to drop this October on Netflix and Crunchyroll, but following the leak there are concerns about the potential impact on the series’ future. Anyway, it’s requested from the fans to not give a boost to the leaks and wait for the official release.
