The Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji is a well-known face in the industry, especially for his role in Attack On Titan series as Eren Yeager. He plays his roles such perfectly that sometimes he gets indulged in them and gets possessed by the character’s personality. And, according to some claims, Yuki Kaji seems to be possessed by Eren Yeager right now.

In November 2021, there was a special event held for the Attack on Titan Final Season where the makers unveiled some behind the scenes & comments from the franchise’s staff on the episodes of Season 4 Part 1. The stage was honoured by the director, chief animator & the Japanese voice cast of Attack On Titan.

During the event, one of the interesting revelations stated that at the time of recording of Attack On Titan Episode 64 titled “Declaration of War”, animation director Teruyuki Omine was certain that voice actor Yuki Kaji was possessed by his character Eren Yeager.

“Kaji was scary during the recording session because he looked like he was possessed by Eren,” said Omine. In fact, Yuki Kaji himself once claimed that he has never been so invested in delivering Eren’s role until recently. During the recording of AOT Episode 80, Kaji almost lost his voice as well.

“This is the episode I couldn’t imagine how to do. This is the episode where I didn’t know what to do. This is the episode in which I could not see how things would turn out. This is also the episode I lost my voice more so than any other where I’ve played Eren.” tweeted by Yuki Kaji before the broadcast of the episode.

Apart from the possession of Yuki Kaji with Eren Yeager, the animation director further revealed how he faced difficulties and how he “struggled to reflect the tension” during Willy Tybur’s speech between Eren and Reiner in Episode 64.

In the making of Attack On Titan Final Season, the directors had to deal with technical difficulties besides dealing with the emotional damages that were brought forth during the creation of some heartbreaking scenes of the season.

Director Hiroko Komatsu recalls that he was so heartbroken that he teared up while drawing Episode 73 when Eren told Mikasa he hates her. After the broadcast, he made sure to leave the episode on a happy note by sketching a smiling face for the illustration.

The final season of Attack On Titan is currently airing and only a few episodes have left until the series ends its golden era of greatness. Episode 83 is scheduled to release on February 27th, 2022 on the streaming platforms of Crunchyroll & Funimation.
