One Piece Film Red Box Office Collection Exceeds 1 Billion Yen On First Day
One Piece Film Red has finally premiered in the Japanese theatres and fans from all over the world are already looking forward to this latest movie addition to the series. The movie is trending on social media worldwide since its release and on top of that, data reports of the One Piece Film Red box office collection have also arrived.
On August 6th, the film was released for the people residing in Japan and the fans seemed pretty much excited about the new movie. The movie performed extremely well at the ticket counter and became a hit on its opening day. One Piece Film Red box office collection indicates that the film has already made 1.23 Billion Yen (around $9.1 Million) on the first day.
This makes One Piece Film: RED the second highest opening movie in Japan right behind “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” which earned an estimated total of 1.26 Billion Yen (around $9.3 Million) on its first day. These remarkable numbers also make Film Red the most successful One Piece movie in its first weekend and also the second highest opening weekend box office revenue of all time in Japan.
The last film of the franchise titled “One Piece Stampede”, opened in Japan in August 2019, and earned more than 10 billion yen (about US$93 million) at the box office worldwide. Eiichiro Oda himself supervised the film with Goro Taniguchi working as the director and Kuroiwa Tsutomu handling the script.
As of now, the movie is only playing in Japanese theatres however, soon it will be released in other countries. In France, the film is scheduled to release on August 10th meanwhile, Taiwan will release the film theatrically on August 19, 2022. In U.K and Ireland, the film will be released in Fall 2022 by Anime Limited.
United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are still waiting for an official date but Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will bring the films to these regions in Fall 2022. Odex announced that they will distribute the film in Singapore and India as well. One Piece Film Red is the 15th feature film of the franchise produced by Toei Animation.
Synopsis
The story is set on the “Island of Music” Elegia, where Uta, the world’s greatest diva, holds her first ever live concert and reveals herself to the public. The Straw Hats, pirates, Marines and fans from across the world gather to enjoy Uta’s voice, which has been described as “otherworldly”. However, the event begins with the shocking revelation that Uta is the daughter of Shanks.
