Loyalty is a trait which is very hard to find these days and these days several relationships are on the edge of separation because of this factor alone. Although, it’s very rare to find a reliable partner or buddy still the same thing can’t be said for some of the most loyal anime characters that are plauded in the community for their unfaltering personality.

Every great leader has always a sidekick or partner watching their back. They are not just reliable but also willing to make significant personal sacrifices. They always stick with their leader through thick & thin and completely put their faith in the hands of their commander. But, sometimes, their devotion doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves.

And, in today’s article, we’ll take a look at some of the most loyal anime characters who stick with their partner till the end whether it’s for a righteous cause or villainous ambitions. So, without any further ado let’s get started.

10. Krillin from ‘Dragon Ball’

The ones who have watched the Dragon Ball series can’t deny the fact that Krillin is one of the most loyal anime characters in history. Despite spending much of his years being the center of jokes, Krillin always had loyal to Goku and the rest of the Z-Warriors. Even though the iconic friendship of Goku and Krillin started as a rivalry, he has stuck with Goku throughout his many failures and achievements.

Both Goku and Krillin sought training from the legendary Master Roshi. Krillin has stood by the side of Goku against some of the biggest threats such as the Saiyans, the Androids, Cell, Buu, and many more. Even on a far away planet, Krillin maintained the trust that Goku would join the group and save the day. Similarly, Krillin has become the ever-reliable uncle and companion to the likes of Gohan and Goten as well.

9. Killua Zoldyck from ‘Hunter x Hunter’

Killua was an assassin coming from the most powerful bloodline, Zoldycks. Because of his upbringing, he never trusted anyone and loyalty was just a word for him. However, his encounter with Gon turned out to be the best thing that happened to him. They just not became good friends but also, trusted each other from the bottom of their hearts.

Killua tried every possible way to train his partner and pretty much-kept Gon alive in the entire series. Gon’s stubbornness and battle-ready impulse often lead the duo into life-threatening situations and every time Killua miraculously saved the day. From Gon saving Killua after his attempted suicide to Killua using Nanika to revive Gon’s body, their lives are literally indebted to one another.

8. Baji Keisuke from ‘Tokyo Revengers’

Baji was portrayed as a traitor in the first half of Tokyo Revengers. At first, he doesn’t seem particularly loyal after all, he left Toman for a gang which was one of Toman’s greatest enemies. But, it was just an act and his loyalty toward his friends never wavered. He loved Toman, and more importantly, he loved the close friends who he started the group with.

He joined Valhalla intentionally to destroy the gang from inside especially Tetta Kisaki who was the biggest threat to Toman. But his loyalty went further than that. In order to keep his close friends, Kazutora and Mikey from hurting each other and to ensure that Kazutora would not have to take the blame for his demise, Baji took his own life. Even in the final moments of his death, he never left his friend’s side.

7. Pikachu from ‘Pokémon’

Pets are supposed to be very loyal to their owner and that’s true to an extent. Pikachu is quite similar to a pet, although he’s a Pokémon, who has proved to be a reliable sidekick in anime. Pikachu has remained a loyal companion to Ash throughout his many adventures – maintaining a spot on his team every time despite the existence of a couple of hundred other Pokémon across many generations.

Their bond is deep to the extent that either of them is more than willing to do anything for the other. Both of them put utter faith in each other and the duo consistently chooses each other as partners for all the things they do together. Pikachu has been consistently there with him whether it was the first loss of Ash or the historical win as Pokemon Champion.

6. Misa Amane from ‘Death Note’

Kira’s ruckus would have been stopped if Misa Amane hadn’t shown up. It was Misa’s obsession and loyalty that helped Light to clear the obstructions in his path. Although Misa’s loyalty was more like a love interest in him, it surely was admirable and does exist. She just not figured out Kira’s identity, but also devoted herself to him fully.

Misa willingly slashed her life span in half, not once but twice, in exchange for the Shinigami Eyes so that she could more effectively help him. Misa gave her everything to Kira in return for a romantic angle with Light. But, on the other hand, Light always used him as a useful associate and manipulated Misa nicely because of her utter faith in him.

5. Hagi from ‘Blood+’

How loyal are you to your partner and do you have the patience to wait for the love of your life? Probably, not as much as, Hagi from Blood Plus. Throughout his life, even prior to becoming a chevalier, Hagi has always been loyal, not only to his love interest Saya but to her friends and family. This guy watched over Saya during her 30-year periods of sleep and never got tired of it.

The only time he disobeyed Saya was just to save her from suffering and pain. Despite everything he has gone through, Hagi always cared about Saya. In the times of cheating and moving on from the lifelong relationship, Hagi proves to be not just one of the most loyal anime characters but also, a reliable and trustworthy partner you can ever get.

4. Joey Wheeler from ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a series that is basically about the power of friendship, and there is no more loyal friend to Yugi than Joey Wheeler himself. Although, Joey used to bully Yugi but he eventually ends up becoming his best friend and companion. Despite his distinct charm, wit, and humor, Joey always has his back in every Yu-Gi-Oh! match.

Joey always has complete faith in Yugi’s abilities, and will hot-headedly jump into action to protect him if he is threatened. He remains a testament to the power of friendship and potential. His sheer persistence and courage remind both Yugi and the Pharaoh that sometimes daring to dream makes anyone halfway to success already. Joey is a man of his word who doesn’t know how to back down.

3. Robert E.O. Speedwagon from ‘JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure’

Speedwagon started out as a criminal from the worst part of London who used to kill and mug people to survive. But, his life changes completely after the meeting with Jonathan Joestar, who beats him in a one-on-one fight and then spares his life as well. The nobility shown by Jonathan impresses him a lot and as a result, Speedwagon becomes Jonathan’s most steadfast supporter forever after.

The two embark on a lifelong friendship that extends beyond both of their lives and his loyalty lives on long after Jonathan’s premature death. He has shown to be a treasured friend to his family and the Speedwagon Foundation he established provides invaluable resources to the Joestar family. Even if they can’t count on anyone else, they know they can count on good old Speedwagon.

2. Riza Hawkeye from ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’

Riza Hawkeye served as the personal adjutant and bodyguard of Colonel Roy Mustang. She was not just a colleague but was a very supportive and trustworthy asset for Mustang. Riza genuinely admired Mustang and his ideals, and did anything in her power to not just protect him, but help him succeed as well.

She always put her personal obligations aside and cared about the well-being of the Colonel. Without her, it would have been difficult for even Mustang as well to keep his cool. Because of her unwavering loyalty, she was able to criticize him and have him take her seriously. Riza’s belief in Mustang’s path of righteousness makes her one of the most loyal sidekicks in anime.

1. Roronoa Zoro from ‘One Piece’

Zoro was initially a pirate hunter until he met Luffy and became the first official crew member of Strawhats. In the entirety of One Piece, Zoro’s loyalty toward his captain is absolutely insane. He really admires & respects Luffy to an unbelievable extent. He has never disobeyed Luffy’s orders and sticks to his side every time.

Despite hiding it, Zoro is always there to fight for his captain and protect his back. There have been many situations where he almost died, but he didn’t even care as long as it was for his captain’s sake. Zoro is the best example of loyal anime characters and finding a reliable subordinate like him is close to impossible.
