Are you aware of the anime series Attack On Titan? Pretty sure, you would have because of its popularity around the globe. But, do you know who was behind the production of such a marvelous heck of show? The credit for this goes to one of the most famous animation studios in Japan, Studio WIT. Being one of the newly established production houses the studio has also been involved in a couple of anime in past few years however, it’s pretty hard to choose the best anime by Wit Studio.
Before moving on to the main topic let’s first take a look at the studio’s history. In June 2012, former Production I.G. employees George Wada and Tetsuya Nakatake established a new animation studio as a subsidiary of IG Port and it was named “Wit”. The first-ever anime of this studio was none other than the highly recognized series, Attack on Titan and after that, the rest is history.
In the past ten years, Studio Wit has seen lots of ups and downs in the industry however, it never stopped mesmerizing its fans with its beautiful works and became a very popular production house in Japan. The studio gained notability for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and other acclaimed anime series such as Vinland Saga, Great Pretender, and Spy × Family.

10. Bubble
Bubble is an animated feature film produced by Wit Studio. The film premiered worldwide on Netflix on April 28th before being released theatrically in Japan in May. Bubble features some well-known faces from the Japanese voice acting industry which includes Yuki Kaji, Mamoru Miyano, and Marina Inoue.
The story is set in Tokyo after bubbles that broke the laws of gravity rained down upon the world. Cut off from the outside world, Tokyo has become a playground for a group of young people who have lost their families, acting as a battlefield for parkour team battles as they leap from building to building.
9. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is written by Ichirō Ōkouchi, directed by Tetsurō Araki, and is an original TV anime by Wit Studio. The story is set during the Industrial Revolution of the Samurai age when a mysterious virus infected the inhabitants of Hinomoto Island turning them into the Kabane, aggressive reanimated creatures with near-impenetrable metal heart cages.
Humanity now resides in fortified Stations to protect themselves from the Kabane. But one day, a hayajirō hijacked by the kabane crashes into Aragane Station and they overrun the city. Assisted by Mūmei, another Kabaneri who appears to help them, young engineer Ikoma and the other survivors of the station board a hayajirō named “Iron Fortress” and depart to seek shelter elsewhere, fighting the hordes of kabane along the way.
8. The Ancient Magus’ Bride
After being abandoned at a young age and ridiculed by her peers for her unconventional behavior, Chise Hatori decides to give herself to any buyer if it meant having a place to go home to. At the auction in London, she is sold for five million pounds to a seven-foot-tall humanoid with an animal skull for a head named Elias Ainsworth who reveals himself to be a magus.
After a brief confrontation and a bit of teleportation magic, the two open their eyes to Elias’ picturesque cottage in rural England. Greeted by fairies and surrounded by weird and wonderful beings upon her arrival, these events mark the beginning of Chise’s story as the apprentice and supposed bride of the ancient magus. The series deals with a romantic slice-of-life storyline in a surreal and supernatural light.
7. Seraph of the End
Seraph of the End is a post-apocalyptic-themed dark fantasy anime by Wit Studio which premiered in 2015. The series is written by Takaya Kagami and is set in a world that allegedly comes to an end at the hands of a “human-made” virus, ravaging the global populace and leaving only children under the age of thirteen untouched.
It is at this time that vampires emerge from the recesses of the earth, likely followed by age-old horrors of the dark thought only to be a myth. A young man named Yūichirō Hyakuya joins a vampire extermination unit to avenge the deaths of his orphaned family and reclaim his childhood best friend Mikaela from the vampires.
6. Great Pretender
Jumping from city to city, Great Pretender follows the endeavors of Makoto “Edamame” Edamura who adopts the life of crime – pickpocketing and scamming others for a living. However, after swindling a seemingly clueless tourist, Makoto discovers that he was the one tricked and, to make matters worse, the police are now after him.
While making his escape, he runs into the tourist once again, who turns out to be a fellow con man named Laurent Thierry. In an attempt to defend his self-proclaimed title of “Japan’s Greatest Swindler,” Makoto challenges his rival to determine the better scammer. Accepting the competition, Laurent drops them off outside a huge mansion and claims that their target will be the biggest mafia boss on the West Coast.
5. Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song
Produced by Wit Studio, Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song is set in the year 2056 when advancement in technology and artificial intelligence is at its peak. As a result, android bodies that can mimic human form come into action. A songstress AI known as ‘Vivy’ is given a mission to make people happy with her songs.
In order to fulfill her mission, she works in an amusement park to grab the main stage one day. But, after encountering another AI from 100 years in the future, Vivy comes to know that a destructive war between humans & AIs is coming and she has to prevent it at any cost.
4. Spy × Family
Spy × Family is a story about a brilliant spy named ‘Twilight’ who is tasked with a top-secret mission. To accomplish it, Twilight is assigned to create a family within a week and come up with a plan to handle the case. He must take quick actions to maintain the peace between East and West.
Dressed as a psychiatrist Loid Forger, sets on a journey to find the best-suited family for his mission. However, the daughter Anya he meets turns out to be an Esper, who could read minds, and his wife Yor turns out to be a hitman! Now, world peace is entrusted in the hands of this dramatic family. The anime has been made in collaboration with Wit Studio and CloverWorks.
3. Ousama Ranking
Ousama Ranking is an adventure comedy anime series written by Sōsuke Tōka. After a long break from the anime industry and leaving big projects like Vinland Saga & Attack on Titan, Wit decided to pick up this new anime which was completely different from their past works. And, by their way of storytelling and direction, they impressed the audience so much that Ousama Ranking became quite a promising show and you should check it out.
The anime follows the journey of Bojji, a deaf and dumb powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as the “good-for-nothing prince”. Despite all the criticism, Bojji doesn’t get off his track and keeps pushing on to succeed in his dream.
2. Vinland Saga
Vinland Saga debuted in the same year as that of Demon Slayer however, due to the massive popularity of the latter Vinland Saga didn’t get much attention at that time. But, apparently, the show made its way out of the hurdle and became a fan favorite of many anime enthusiasts. Even though the first season of anime by Wit was a success, it has now shifted to Studio MAPPA as they’re in charge of Season 2.
The story combines a dramatization of King Cnut the Great’s historical rise to power with a revenge plot centered on the historical explorer Thorfinn, the son of a murdered ex-warrior who serves under a group of mercenaries responsible for the deed; the story progresses through several story arcs beyond this, eventually culminating in an expedition to Vinland.
