Vinland Saga hit the anime screen in 2019 and it surprised a lot of anime fans through its awesome plot, nice character sketches, and mind-blowing animation.

Plot

Vinland Saga is a tale of a warrior, Thors, who runs away from a battlefield to save his family. Later on, his wife gives birth to a child, Thorfinn and from here on the story progresses.

After a long time, Thorfinn comes to know about his father’s true identity. As a result, he seeks to become a true warrior like him.

But, on a bad day, Thors is killed by an assassin, Askeladd. This incident marks a deep impact on Thorfinn’s mind and he pledges to revenge on his father’s murderer. So, he begins to train himself under harsh conditions just to take on Askeladd one day.

Characters To Watch Out For In Vinland Saga

There are a lot of exciting characters in this anime. Talking about all of them will make this article a bit longer. So, I picked a few of them that are loved by most of the audience.

1. Thorfinn

The character of Thorfinn is very realistic and down-to-earth. His journey is showcased very nicely throughout the anime.

From an innocent boy to a raging warrior, every phase of his life will inspire you. If you love characters in the anime, then Thorfinn will be the next one on your list.

2. Askeladd

As we all know there is always a character besides the main protagonist who delights everyone and gives us a lot of thrills and Askeladd is the one in this anime.

His character is slightly different from what we see in other anime but believe me this character is going to entertain you a lot and make a deep impression on your mind.

Sometimes you will hate him, sometimes you will love him. In my opinion, he is more worthy to watch than the main character due to his impactful personality on the entire plot.

3. Thors

At the start of the anime, the only character that will look important to you will be Thors as his character is so well-expressed in the anime that you will praise him as a person.

In the anime he was given the title, ‘The Trot of Jom’ due to his ruthless behavior and unexceptional fighting skills in the battles.

His decision to choose his family over his country shows his character that whatever the man’s passion will be, he always cares about his family first.

4. Thorkell

You will hear this name at the very beginning of the anime but he is shown late in the anime. His character is very interesting. He is cheerful, joyous, and a very humorous person. The only person that will make a smile on your face will be this character.

But, when it comes to battle then don’t underestimate him. He slaughters everyone on the battlefield like a killing machine. He only knows how to fight. So, fighting him needs a little bit of courage as he doesn’t give a damn shit about his opponent.

• One thing that makes Vinland Saga special from other anime specially Seinen ones and the historic ones, is its better adaptation and quality animation. So, you should give it a try if you love awesome artwork.

Is Vinland Saga really so perfect??

Thorfinn’s Screentime

The major issue of this anime is its main character himself. Yes, you heard it right. As compared to other shows, Vinland Saga didn’t concentrate too much on its main character.

His character development is indeed awesome but he is not given the amount of screentime a main character deserves.

Most of the time it felt like he is a side character who is working along with Askeladd. This kinda looks frustrating sometimes but the story demands it. Its second season will probably focus more on Thorfinn as everyone want to see him in action.

Lack of a main goal

This will sound stupid to you but it is true. Vinland Saga has all the stuff but the anime lacks the main perspective

In the starting, it looks like all are struggling to live in a peaceful place and the name given to that place is ‘Vinland’, sometimes it feels like Thorfinn’s revenge against Askeladd but in the entire anime you will not see any of them be accomplished.

As a Shonen lover you will not like it but if you are not, then enjoy it with some popcorns and cola.

When Vinland Saga season 2 will come??

It is been almost one and a half years since we have heard anything about this franchise’s second installment. What’s more disappointing, WIT Studio is not going to work on Vinland Saga anymore.

Chances of it getting another season before 2022 seems almost impossible. But if it happens then it will be great news for the fans.
