The most heartbreaking moment for an anime lover is – End of an anime or its season. No one wants an anime to be finished but, it has to be concluded one day and you can’t deny the fact.

But, this situation turns into frustration for an anime lover when the anime or its season end at a cliffhanger and the fans have to wait for a long time to know what happened next. And it becomes more annoying when you have to wait for more than 6-7 years for a new season and it seems really painful for a fan of that series.

In this article, we will take a look back at the anime shows that never concluded or whose new season never came even after a wait of several years.

Noragami

Storyline

The story begins with Hiyori Iki, a middle school student who meets with a bus accident. This incident causes her soul to frequently slip out of her body and this makes her able to become aware of two parallel worlds, one of the humans and the other of demons.

Through her soul, she encounters a strange nameless god, Yato. Yato tries to convince her that he can cure her. Later on, they team up with Yukine, a weapon from a dead human’s soul and the trio goes through many adventures and work together to help each other to achieve whatever they want.

How the anime came to its end?

Noragami was comprised of two seasons. Season 2 ended with some hilarious and shocking moments. Yato finally came to know about his real father’s true identity which surprised him even more. The last episode was full of twists and turns and its fans are still in doubt about the show.

Will there be a new season?

If you are a fan of this anime then you will definitely love to watch its new season and this anime deserves its third season. There is enough stuff for a new season as out of 21 volumes of manga only 9 are adapted till now.

The main reason for this anime not getting a third season after such a long time is its second season itself as it was not much successful in terms of Blu-ray and DVD sales. So, there is a high chance that it would not get another season.

Because its storyline is quite amazing so there is still some hope left and if everything goes well then it would probably get a new season soon.

What to expect from new season?

You will get to know Yato’s true identity and his past belongings will also be revealed. The relationship between Yato and his father can be seen in this season.

Yato’s dream of becoming a god with millions of worshippers will continue and the season will be full of mysteries and stories from the past that will eventually impact their journey to some extent.

Blue Exorcist

Storyline

The anime revolves around Rin Okumura, an ordinary teenager, who was raised by an exorcist alongside his brother, Yukio. He was quite satisfied with his life.

But his life takes a turn when he encounters demons for the first time and later on, he comes to know that he is a son of ‘Satan’. By the time he matures his demon father wants him back so that they can conquer the human world together. But, Rin has his own destiny. He denies the fact and trains hard to become an exorcist so that he can protect the human world alongside his brother.

How the anime came to its end?

Blue Exorcist ended at a cliffhanger as Rin hasn’t completed his goal yet and Yukio has finally felt some powers in himself as the color of his eyes has changed. They are willing to save the human world from demons and zombies. But what will happen next? No one knows the answer and the wait is still going on.

Will there be a new season?

The anime and manga both are quite popular among the Blue Exorcist fans but there is still no news of another season. A-1 Pictures, the production house of Blue Exorcist, is still silent about the future of this iconic anime.

There is enough content to make two or three more seasons as only 9 volumes (out of 24) are adapted till now. Hence, it is difficult for me to say something about its future. I expect that there will be a new release at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.

What to expect from new season?

The new season will follow Rin and his friends dealing with a group known as the Illuminati and Rin still have to face the group leader, Lucifer the King of Light. Rin and his friends continue their hunt to demolish Satan and unleash the demons and zombies upon the world.

No Game No Life

Storyline

The anime is about a duo of sibling gamers, Sora and Shiro, who became a worldwide sensation because of their outstanding gaming skill. Due to their popularity, a god from another world challenges them to a Chess match. The sibling accepts his challenge and later on beat him in this game.

Being impressed by their talent, the god invites both of them into his world. When they enter his world they come to know that it is a gaming world where everything is decided by playing games. From here on, the journey of Sora and Shiro begins and eventually they explore this new and exciting fantasy world.

How The Anime Came To Its End

Season 1 mainly focused on world-building. At the end of the series, the sibling only manages to conquer the Human Ground and the Eastern Animal Kingdom. Also, they made some allies as well

Will There Be A New Season ?

Well in my opinion there will not be any new season of this series because the first season was just for the advertisement of the original material. The creators and distributors were successful in doing so, that’s why they don’t see any need to bring its another season.

It is better to move on to its light novel if you are interested in this series. The good thing is only 3 volumes (out of 9) were adapted into anime at that time. So, there is plenty of material left for your entertainment.

What To Expect From New Season?

If the new season happens, then it will obviously follow the rest of the journey of the sibling gamers. They still have to beat several major players of different races in the new world, eventually gaining power and knowledge so that they can challenge the god for a face-off.

Hunter X Hunter

Storyline

Hunter X Hunter is one of the best Shonen anime of all time. The story mainly focuses on a little boy named Gon Freecss who sets on an adventurous journey to find his father, who is a renowned hunter.

He desires to be a hunter like him. To fulfill his desire he makes it to the Hunter Exam where he meets various other hunters, including Kurapika, Leoreo, and Killua. They become good friends and work together to tackle all the problems ahead of them.

How the anime came to its end?

Hunter X Hunter finally came to its end in 2014 (here, I’m talking about the 2011 anime series). The anime ended in a very dramatic and emotional way. Gon finally found his father and his father was very happy to see him. He tells Gon that this is only the beginning, the new world is far bigger than what you imagine and it is waiting for you.

Will there be a new season?

The manga was concluded in 380 chapters and only 340 of them were adapted into anime. So, there is enough stuff left for a new season.

The major issue regarding the new season of this anime is Togashi’s health. As he is not well enough to draw plots for manga. In an interview, he admitted that he is facing problems in concluding the anime.

Recently, some rumors were spreading about its return. But considering all the facts, Hunter X Hunter will probably not return to the screen anymore.

What to expect from new season?

The new season will definitely follow the adventure of Gon and his friends. Gon will explore new creatures around the world and will have to face his rivals also. You will see the beginning of a new arc where things will happen in a very exciting way with some plot twists.

Vinland Saga

Storyline

Vinland Saga is a tale of a warrior, Thors, who runs away from a battlefield to save his family. Later on, his wife gives birth to a child, Thorfinn and from here on the story progresses.

After a long time, Thorfinn comes to know about his father’s true identity. As a result, he seeks to become a true warrior like him.

But, on a bad day, Thors is killed by an assassin, Askeladd. This incident marks a deep impact on Thorfinn’s mind and he pledges to revenge on his father’s murderer. So, he begins to train himself under harsh conditions just to take on Askeladd one day.

How The Anime Came To Its End?

King Sweyn was assassinated then, Thorfinn attacks King Canute, he sells the new King Thorfinn as a slave. After the turmoil and revolt, Thorfinn is liberated once again.

At the end of the series, two people were seen climbing the mountain, a girl drawing on the sand and a mysterious man on the boat.

These are all teasers for what is to come. The first season was just a prologue.

Will there be a new season ?

Vinland Saga is more likely to gets its Season 2 as compared to other anime listed above. As the original studio, WIT has dropped the project, Vinland Saga Season 2 could most likely be done by the newly formed studios like MAPPA.

From time to time the creator also has hinted about its new season. So, it will not be wrong to say that this series will return around 2022.

What To Expect From New Season?

We can expect the slavery tendency and the corresponding war to be in the Vinland Saga next season. Thorfinn’s development as a character is going to be a main attraction of the new season and he will be more in action.

The Director also hinted about its upcoming season.
